Square is a financial services and merchant services aggregator. It offers credit card reading devices for tablets and smartphones, accounting software, Point of Sale (POS. systems, and business analytics.
Square’s technpogy enables merchants to accept payments via the point of sale device on their mobile phones or tablets or at a traditional register. Square charges a transaction fee of 2.75% plus $0.15 per transaction. The company was founded in 2009 by Jack Dorsey, Jim McKelvey and Twitter cofounder Evan Williams. In 2013, it generated $560 million in revenue.
