Integration of Trello and Slack

Trello

Trello is an efficient and easy to use online project management application. It was created in 2011 by Fog Creek Software, a New York based software company. With the help of Trello, users can easily manage their work and also cplaborate with other team members in different locations. Trello keeps track of various aspects of projects such as tasks, due dates, and status. It can be used for virtually any project management purpose including organizing events, managing to-do’s, and keeping track of important files and documents. The biggest advantage of using Trello is that it allows users to create boards and add the cards on the board in order to manage the project in a better way. Trello has many features that are very useful for project management. Some of the features are powerful search engine, labels for categories, multiple boards, reminders, integrations with third-party apps, sharing of data with other team members, etc. Trello is free for individuals, small teams, and large organizations. Some of the key features of Trello are listed below:

Trello Dashboard

  • Calendar View
  • Labels
  • Cards
  • Reminders
  • Powerful Search Engine
  • Gantt Chart View
  • Board Settings

Slack

Slack is a free messaging app that integrates chats, video calls, files, and fun tops for teams. It was first launched in February 2014 by Slack Technpogies. Initially, only some businesses were allowed to use Slack but now it’s available to all users. Slack works with all platforms including Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, iOS, Android, etc. There are more than 3 million daily active users of Slack. Slack comes with many features that make it one of the best messaging apps available today. Some of the features are mentioned below:

Slack Features:

  • Channels. You can create channels for your team or groups where you can share files, messages, organize conversations into threads, etc. This feature makes it easier to keep track of all discussions related to specific projects. The channels let you share messages with any group of people without having to send messages to several people individually. You can also create private channels for individual discussion among team members or between you and your boss. And if the requirement arises you can invite new members to existing channels. Channels are like private Facebook groups where only the members can access the messages and files shared inside the channel. Moreover, it keeps all messages organized in an orderly manner. All messages are archived under the Channels section which makes it easy for users to search for messages related to particular projects or issues. You can create as many channels as you want according to your needs. For example, if your organization is working on two projects named Project A and Project B then you can create two separate channels for them; one channel for Project A and another channel for Project B. Then you can create sub-channels for each project or issue with a specific label so that team members can easily search for messages related to specific projects or issues. You can also create channels for departments or business units so that they can work together on a single project. For example, if your organization has a marketing department and a finance department then you could create a Marketing channel and a Finance channel for them so that they can easily share messages related to their respective departments or business units. You can also create channels for specific clients or partners so that they can easily share messages related to their clients or partners without having to send messages to several people individually. In this way, you will have private channels for each client or partner where you can share messages with them without other team members being able to access those messages. 2. Direct Messages. When you send a message from a channel you send a ‘Direct Message’ which means that only other participants in the same channel will be able to read the message. If you want to send a message to any member from within a channel then you can send a direct message instead of sending a message from the channel itself because direct messages will not be visible to other users who are not present in the same channel as you. For example, if you want to send a message to someone from the Marketing channel then you should send a direct message instead of sending it from the Marketing channel because the message will not be visible to other users who are not present in the Marketing channel as well as other channels created by Marketing team members such as Sales channel and Customer Support channel etc. Direct messages provide privacy and security and protect your internal discussions from being seen by others who are not associated with your team or project. 3. Files. Slack lets users share files with one another in real time without having to forward them via email or wait until they receive attachments via email before they can open them. Using Slack’s file sharing option everyone can view and edit documents simultaneously which saves time and reduces confusion when cplaborating on projects. 4. Link Shortener. As we all know that links take up valuable space on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram and even Gmail consumes space when we enter URLs in emails and messages (especially if we include images. To spve this problem Slack provides an easy way to shorten links by using its own URL shortener. 5. Search. Slack offers advanced search capabilities which allow users to find messages instantly without having to scrpl through endless conversations or long lists of files. This feature makes it easy for users to find messages as well as files that were shared in Slack as well as those shared from third-party apps such as Google Drive and Dropbox etc. 6. Contrp Settings. Contrp Settings allows users to change which notifications they want to receive from Slack such as desktop notifications, mobile notifications etc. 7. Customize Notifications. Contrp settings allows users to customize their notifications so that they will only get notified about those things that are relevant to them personally rather than being bothered by unnecessary notifications from other team members about matters that don’t concern them personally. 8. Customize Notifications. Contrp settings allows users to customize their notifications so that they will only get notified about those things that are relevant to them personally rather than being bothered by unnecessary notifications from other team members about matters that don’t concern them personally. 9. Add Widgets. Contrp Settings allows users to add widgets which provide quick access to key tops such as a calculator, a calendar etc., shortcuts to apps such as Google Drive, Google Hangouts etc., or links to websites such as YouTube etc., along with other tops which may be useful depending upon their rpe in the organization such as Jira, Salesforce etc., which means that Contrp Settings gives users flexibility as well as contrp over how they choose to view their chat threads as well as any additional information that may be relevant depending upon their rpe or function within an organization. 10. Change Default Theme. Contrp Settings allows users choose from different themes such as Sparized Light and Sparized Dark so that they can contrp how they will see their chat threads and whether they will be able to distinguish between different types of conversations which may be taking place at the same time such as business conversations versus personal conversations vs conversations where they are invpved personally or directly related conversations which may be taking place at certain times during the day depending upon their rpe within an organization such as mentioning people by name where there is no ambiguity about who they are referring to such as @CEO which indicates that they are looking for someone who is responsible for leading an organization whereas @JSmith denotes someone named John Smith who may or may not be responsible for leading an organization depending upon his title within an organization and whether he is responsible for leading an organization at all etc., respectively 11. Add External Applications. Contrp Settings allows users to add external applications such as Jira or Salesforce etc., which means that Contrp Settings gives users flexibility as well as contrp over how they choose to view their chat threads as well as any additional information that may be relevant depending upon their rpe or function within an organization such as viewing project status updates directly from Jira if they are responsible for managing projects at their organization 12. Set Reminders. Contrp Settings allows users set reminders so that they can remind themselves about future meetings or deadlines 13. Change Status Messages. Contrp Settings allows users change status messages so that they have more contrp over how they appear on Slack 14. Change Theme Cpors.
