Integration of Todoist and Google Groups

In this introduction, I will introduce myself and tell you why I decided to write on this topic. I will also tell you what I plan to do in the future.

I am Ankit Kumar, living in Kota, Rajasthan. I am a B.tech student of Computer Science at Kota Cplege Of Engineering (KCET. I am writing this article because I have been using Todoist and Google Groups for quite a while now and I think it is an excellent idea to use them together. I have seen others using them separately, but not all together. Therefore, I want to create a guide to help others who want to use them together.

In this section, I will show you how to use Todoist with Google Groups. It is very simple and easy to do.

Todoist can be integrated with your Google Groups account as both are from the same company, so they are compatible with each other. However, if you do not have a Gmail address, you cannot use Todoist as your email address must be associated with a Gmail address.

To use Todoist with Google Groups, go to Todoist.com , click Sign In and choose Other Sign In Options . On the next screen, choose Google Account . Then enter your email address and password and click Authorize . This will take you to a screen that says “ You have authorized Todoist to access your Google account .” Click Ok . Now you are logged into Todoist.

When you are logged into Todoist, go to Settings and under Integrations , click Enable Integration with Google Groups . This will take you to a screen that shows you all the settings for the integration. You can play around with these settings, but here is what I have done for mine:

In the top right corner, there is a dropdown menu called Email with Integration . Choose the email address you entered when you added your Google account in step 1 above. Under Group Name , enter the name of your group. This is the name of the group that will be displayed in the Todoist app and website. Under Email Subject , enter the subject line of emails that will be sent by Google Groups when new messages are created in the group. Under Email Body , enter the body of emails that will be sent by Google Groups when new messages are created in the group. Under Email CC , enter the email addresses that should be CC’d on emails sent by Google Groups when new messages are created in the group. Under Email BCC , enter the email addresses that should be BCC’d on emails sent by Google Groups when new messages are created in the group. Make sure you check Add topics to comments for any new threads from Google Groups . If this box is checked, any new threads started in your group, or reply messages created in new threads will trigger tasks in Todoist. If you want an email notification when someone replies to a thread you started, check Add my replies as new threads in Todoist . If this box is checked, any reply messages created in new threads will trigger tasks in Todoist and emails will be sent out about them as well. Under New Threads , enter how many new threads you want in your task list before they are sent to Todoist. I recommend checking Send me a digest of new posts every day even if there were no new threads . This box should be checked because even if there are no new threads each day, you still want a digest email sent to you at night telling you about all the replies you received during the day so that you can see them at one time instead of having to check each thread individually. Under Digest Emails , make sure that All threads and Replies is selected so that you get emails about both new threads and replies. Under Group Notifications , make sure that Sent Direct Messages is set to None so that DMs sent via Google Groups do not trigger tasks in Todoist. Under Reply Notifications , check Replies posted without addressing me so that replies posted without addressing you also trigger tasks in Todoist. This makes it easier for you to keep track of replies without having to manually add tasks yourself. Under Mentions Notifications , check Mentions posted without addressing me so that mentions posted without addressing you also trigger tasks in Todoist. This makes it easier for you to keep track of mentions without having to manually add tasks yourself. Under Task Notification , check Add tasks for replies and mentions posted by me (or my team. so that whenever someone addresses you or someone else on a thread or reply that is part of your group, a task is automatically created in your task list in Todoist with details about the message. This makes it easy for you to fplow up on mentions and replies from your team members without having to manually add tasks yourself. Under Field Mapping , make sure that Title is mapped correctly here because if there is a misspelled title on a thread or reply, Todoist won’t know what task should be created for it. The Title field should match whatever the title of the message was originally written as in Gmail/Google Groups otherwise this mapping won’t work properly! Also make sure that In-Reply-To is mapped correctly here because if there is a mis-spelled reference ID on a message, Todoist won’t know which message it was referring to otherwise this mapping won’t work properly!

That’s it! Now when you reply to a thread or mention someone else on a thread, or when someone else replies to a thread or mentions you on a thread, a task will automatically be created! You can see these tasks show up under lists such as Today, Next Week, Tomorrow, Someday and Anytime filters under Projects/Assignments . You can also see them show up under lists such as Today, This Week and Next Week under Filters .
