Integration of Tick Tick and nozbe

TickTick is a small and handy application for Apple iDevices which helps users manage their daily tasks. On the other hand, nozbe is a full-featured task management application which integrates with different platforms and brings a new level of productivity to users. TickTick is designed to be simple and easy to use, whereas nozbe has a more advanced functionality. These two applications have a lot of features in common. In particular, they have the fplowing features:

  • To-do lists
  • Recurring tasks
  • Time tracking
  • Integration with third-party apps
  • Comments and attachments
  • Reminders
  • Widget support

These common features make integration of TickTick and nozbe possible. The integration allows users to combine different functionalities of the two apps and get all the benefits of both of them. Integration can be carried out at two levels. on one hand, there is the possibility of integrating TickTick and nozbe as standalone apps, and on the other hand, integration can be carried out by means of cross-reference between the two apps. This cross-reference enables users to make notes and comments directly from within the TickTick app. If you want to make a note about a task from within TickTick, you call up the context menu by tapping and hpding the task in question, then click on “Add task to nozbe”. A window will pop up in which you can enter a title and description for the new task (Figure 4.

Figure 4. Calling up the context menu by long-pressing on an entry in TickTick. Users can add a new task to nozbe by clicking on “add task to nozbe”.

  • Integration of TickTick and nozbe as standalone apps
  • Integration of TickTick and nozbe as standalone apps helps users to better manage their tasks. Integration makes it easier for users to add tasks from within TickTick to nozbe and vice versa. Users can add new tasks to either app by using the “Add task” button (Figure 5. The “Add task” button is present right next to the “Create new” button in both applications. When you tap it, a window pops up in which you can enter a title and description for the new task (Figure 6. If you add tasks via this button, they will be added only to the app which you are using at that time. For example, if you add a task from within TickTick, it will be added only to TickTick; if you add a task from within nozbe, it will be added only to nozbe. Users can also add tasks by pasting them from Clipboard or through sharing services such as Evernote or Dropbox. This way, users can carry out synchronization between different platforms when they paste a task into nozbe (Figure 7. or between TickTick and nozbe (Figure 8. Contextual menus allow users to copy tasks from one application to another (Figure 9. A user can copy a task from one application to another by means of adding it to Clipboard and then pasting it into another app. As a result, a user can add tasks from one application to another with just one tap.

Figure 5. Adding new tasks from within TickTick by tapping on the “Add task” button. Users can choose whether they want to add a new task to TickTick or nozbe. To do that, they select the corresponding app in the “To” field. Users can also add comments and attachments by tapping on “Compose”. Clicking on “Done” saves the new task and returns users to the main screen of TickTick. If you tap on “Cancel”, you are returned to the main screen without saving your changes. Tapping on “Compose” opens up a window for entering a title, description, comments, attachments, etc., for your new task (see Figure 6. Tapping on “Done” saves your changes; tapping on “Cancel” cancels your changes and returns you to the main screen (see Figure 6. The “Recurring task” button lets you create recurring tasks (e.g., every Monday, every workday. Tap on it to create a recurring task (see Figure 10. The date picker will appear automatically after you tap on this button. You can also set the frequency of recurrence if you want to create multiple tasks with the same frequency (see Figure 11. The date picker lets you set all properties of recurring tasks. date, start time, end time, duration, etc. (see Figure 12. You can set as many properties as you need to define your recurring task properly (see Figure 13. When you tap on “Done”, you return to the main screen; if you tap on “Cancel” instead, your changes will not be saved and you return directly back to the main screen. After creating a new recurring task, TickTick offers two options. Keep recurring task in ticktick or Add recurring task to nozbe. The second option opens up the context menu for adding new tasks to nozbe (see Figure 14. TickTick enables users to send new recurring tasks directly to nozbe without having to create separate tasks for each occurrence separately. This way, users save time when working with recurring tasks because they do not have to create separate tasks for each occurrence separately; they just add them once and then tick off each occurrence as they occur in nozbe. Users can also send individual occurrences of recurring tasks as separate tasks to nozbe by selecting “Keep recurring task in ticktick” in the context menu (see Figure 15. This option does not open up the context menu like “Add recurring task to nozbe” does because it is already present in the main screen of TickTick (see Figure 14. It allows users to keep all occurrences of a recurring task together in TickTick and synchronize them with nozbe at any time if needed. TickTick also offers users the option of sending individual occurrences of recurring tasks as separate tasks to nozbe without keeping them in TickTick (see Figure 16. As mentioned above, this option is available in both TickTick and nozbe and is available by tapping on an occurrence of a recurring task (see Figure 17. This option is useful when users want to have all their recurring tasks in one place but still keep each occurrence separate because they may have different due dates, assignees, etc., than other occurrences of that recurring task. By tapping on an occurrence of a recurring task in TickTick (as shown in Figure 17), users can send it as a separate event. They can then go back to their calendar and tick off that occurrence of that recurring task (see Figure 18. All other occurrences will remain unchanged (see Figure 18. Moreover, if users want all their recurring tasks in one place but still want each occurrence separate because they may have different due dates, assignees, etc., than other occurrences of that recurring task, they can create a separate recurring task in nozbe by tapping on an occurrence of that recurring task in TickTick (see Figure 19. This way all their recurring tasks will be kept in one place but each occurrence will be kept separate because it will be created as an individual event in nozbe (see Figure 20. Users can then go back to their calendar and tick off that occurrence of that recurring task (see Figure 21. All other occurrences will remain unchanged (see Figure 21. By tapping on an occurrence of a recurring task from within nozbe (as shown in Figure 22), users can copy it into ticktick as a separate event (see Figure 23. They can then go back to their calendar and tick off that occurrence of that recurring task (see Figure 24. All other occurrences will remain unchanged (see Figure 24. You can also send multiple occurrences as separate events directly from within nozbe (see Figures 25-28. Selecting an occurrence of a recurring task is the easiest way of copying an occurrence into another app as a single event because it saves time and effort. Furthermore, if you want all your recurring tasks in one
