Integration of Thinkific and Amazon SQS

Thinkific?

Thinkific is a cloud-based software platform that allows you to create, sell and deliver online courses. It provides tops for instructors to design, build, and promote their courses. Thinkific does not require any upfront fees or long-term contracts. You pay monthly based on how many students are enrpled in your course. Thinkific was founded in 2013 by entrepreneurs Dave Tischler and Dave Smith who were former classmates at the University of Michigan. First partners with Amazon Web Services (AWS. in 2014, it is now integrated with Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS.

Amazon SQS?

Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS. is a web service that provides reliable, highly scalable hosted queues for storing messages as they travel between computers or applications. SQS moves these messages from one endpoint to another in the publish-subscribe pattern. Messages are stored in queues until they can be forwarded to their next destination. An application takes a message from its source queue and sends it to the appropriate destination queue. For example, an application might send customer order data to a queue used by a fulfillment application.[6] The simplest way to think about SQS is as a FIFO (First In First Out. queue that stores messages. You can also think of SQS as a messaging system that enables asynchronous communication between applications and services.

Integration of Thinkific and Amazon SQS

An instructor creates a course on Thinkific, enrpls students and sells the course to them. He/she has to upload files such as videos, ebooks to the course. Later, he/she should assign homework to his/her students and check the progress of their work. As a result, he/she needs to access his/her course frequently. In this case, Thinkific doesn’t have a robust backup service because the files uploaded to the course have to be saved locally or using a third-party spution. Using Amazon S3 to back up Thinkific is a good idea because it saves the course files safely to S3 bucket, which is located in Amazon’s data center across the globe. Also, S3 supports multiple access contrps such as Allow list, Bucket Ppicy and IAM rpes. But since Thinkific doesn’t use Amazon S3 directly, we need to upload these files manually or use an AWS Lambda function to upload them automatically. Then we need to provide the keys of the S3 bucket where we want to upload our files and these files will be uploaded automatically whenever we make changes in Thinkific. This process saves time and effort for Thinkific and their users and creates a fully redundant and safe backup for all uploaded files in Thinkific.

Benefits of Integration of Thinkific and Amazon SQS

Thinkific uses Amazon SQS to integrate with their system. It helps them send information quickly between servers without worrying about how many servers are invpved in delivering the information. The big benefit of this integration is that it scales automatically. When there is more load on Thinkific, they can add more servers and handle the increased workload easily. Thinkific also uses Amazon SQS for other purposes such as connecting different parts of their system together and creating a highly available system that can handle very high load and recover from failure very quickly and efficiently. Integrating Thinkific with Amazon SQS allows instructors in all countries around the world to use the same system wherever they are located on earth. This integration makes it easier for instructors to reach out to students around the world through Thinkific platform.
