Integration of Textline and Cloud Firestore

Textline is a platform for building real-time communication applications. It allows users to build messaging apps, voice chat apps and voice-activated apps with ease. Since it is a platform, it brings a lot of functionality out of the box. The integration between Textline and Cloud Firestore can be achieved through a few steps.

Integration of Textline and Cloud Firestore

To integrate Textline and Cloud Firestore, textline has to be integrated first with Firebase. Fplowing are the steps:

  • Log in to Firebase Conspe.
  • Click on the ‘Add project’ button.
  • Give a name, and click ‘Create project’.
  • After adding the project, go to the ‘Project Settings’ page. Under ‘General’ tab, click on the ‘Get credentials’ link. This will open up a dialog box where you need to click on the ‘Google service’ option and click on the ‘OK’ button. After this, another dialog box will open up where you will be presented with an option to select what kind of authentication method you want to use. Click on the ‘Authentication’ tab and then choose the ‘Sign-in Method’ option. You will see 2 options. ‘Email/Password Authentication’ and ‘No Sign-in Method’. Click on the ‘Email/Password Authentication’ and you will be presented with a form to enter your username and password. Once you have entered these details, click on the ‘Save’ button. A new window will open up asking you to enter your email address. Enter the email address that you want to associate with your Firebase account and click on the ‘Next Step’ button. The next step is entirely dependent upon how you want to configure the access contrps for your Firebase project. If you want everyone to have access to your project, then you can choose the ‘Read Only’ option or if you want to restrict access to specific users then you can choose the ‘Write Only’ option. Once you have chosen one of these two options, click on the ‘Enable’ button at the bottom of the window. After this, another window will pop up asking you whether or not you want to import existing Google user accounts into Firebase project. Make your choice here by clicking on either the option of importing all accounts or just one account. When you have completed all these steps, you will be redirected back to the ‘Project Settings’ page where you will now see your Firebase project listed under the ‘General’ tab. There are several other tabs that are available here but they are not essential for this integration.
  • Now that our Firebase project has been created, we can access it through any device or computer with internet connection by simply typing https://www.firebase.com in the URL bar and pressing enter key after entering this address in your browser. We can also access it through the Firebase Conspe that we created earlier by logging in using our Google account (if we chose that option. If we don’t see our Firebase project listed under the list of projects, then we will need to refresh our website or browser by pressing Ctrl + F5 keys simultaneously on our keyboard. Once we have logged in successfully, we will see our Firebase project ready for further configuration under the ‘Project Info’ tab.
  • Once we have created our Firebase project, we can now integrate it with our Textline project through the Textline Dashboard admin page by fplowing these steps:

Open up your Textline Dashboard admin page by entering https://dashboard-admin.appspot.com in the URL bar of your browser and pressing enter key once you have entered this address in your browser. If you don’t see any errors in your URL bar then you are accessing your Textline Dashboard admin page correctly (if there are errors in your URL bar then make sure that there are no extra characters. Now that we are in our Textline Dashboard admin page, click on the ‘Integrations’ tab located above all other tabs at the top of the page on the left-hand side of your screen (you may also notice that there is a ‘Connected Apps’ tab above this. Now that we are in the ‘Integrations’ tab, click on the ‘+ New Integration’ button at the bottom of this tab (this button will only be visible once you have added one or more Textline projects. This will open up an empty form which asks us to enter details about our integration with Textline. Enter all required details in this form and click on the ‘Save Integration’ button located at the bottom of this form when you are done entering all required details here. This will send a request to Cloud Firestore for further configurations of our integration with Textline. You can see this request by clicking on the ‘Requests’ tab at the top of this form (you may also notice that there is a ‘Connected Apps’ tab above this. Once Cloud Firestore has received this request, it will open up a dialog box asking if we want to add this integration with our Firebase project or not (remember that we created our Firebase project in step 4 above. Click on the ‘Yes, add it!’ button in this dialog box if you want to add this integration with your Firebase project or else click on the ‘Cancel’ button if not (don’t worry if you clicked on the Cancel button accidentally because there is no harm done in canceling this integration. You can see that Cloud Firestore accepted our request by looking at the number of requests that are being processed at any given time in this dialog box (you may also notice that there is a status bar under this dialog box. Once our request has been accepted by Cloud Firestore, it will take some time for things to get setup correctly so don’t be alarmed if nothing seems to happen right away after accepting our request here because everything should be working fine behind the scenes even though nothing seems to be happening in front of us here. If everything goes well here then we should see an error message stating that there is an issue with our integration request in this dialog box within 5-10 seconds after accepting our request here (don’t worry because there is no harm done in getting an error message like this since its just informing us that something went wrong while setting up our integration here. If everything goes well here then we should see a success message stating that Cloud Firestore has successfully configured our integration with Textline in this dialog box within 5-10 seconds after accepting our request here (you may also notice that there is a success message below this success message saying that we can now start using our integration with Textline. If everything goes well here then we should see a success message stating that Cloud Firestore has successfully configured our integration with Textline in this dialog box within 5-10 seconds after accepting our request here (you may also notice that there is a success message below this success message saying that we can now start using our integration with Textline.
