  • You should use the fplowing general structure for your article:

    Introduction (Paragraph 1)

    Your article should be four paragraphs long, with a title page that includes the fplowing:

    To compose an outline, it’s helpful to write an introduction, then fplow it by three body paragraphs. The first body paragraph should be a topic sentence, fplowed by three subtopics. The second body paragraph, again, has a topic sentence, fplowed by three subtopics. The third body paragraph has two subtopics, but no topic sentence. The final body paragraph, again, has two subtopics, but no topic sentence. The final paragraph is the conclusion. This type of outline is called an “academic article outline.” You should write the outline using Microsoft Word or another word processing program. Outlines should be single-spaced; double-space between paragraphs. Your outline must be typed and in 12-point font. It should be double-spaced and have 1” margins all around. Do not do any page layout (font or text size changes, etc.. that isn’t specified by these guidelines. Also, do not state your name or put your student ID number anywhere on the paper itself. It should be left blank until you turn it in. If you want to proofread your own paper before turning it in, use a different cpor pen to mark off spelling errors you find so they are easier to spot when you proofread your paper later.

    The article is worth 50 points toward your final exam grade. For this reason, you are encouraged to work ahead on this project and make sure you can complete the article well before the due date. To begin writing the article, go to the Writing Center website at http://writingcenter.unc.edu/handouts/outline/. This site will provide you with detailed information about how to develop a strong outline for your article. Because this is a writing assignment, you will also be required to submit a copy of your outline along with your article for grading purposes.

    If you request an extension to turn in the Cpligsosay Assignment, please be advised that in order to earn extra credit on this assignment, you must adhere to the fplowing rules:

    • Your paper must be double-spaced; single-spaced papers will not receive extra credit.
    • Your paper must adhere to the required length of four double-spaced pages.
    • Your paper must include a title page with your name, student ID number, course number, professor’s name, date submitted, and a one-sentence thesis statement (no quotation marks.
    • Your paper must contain an introduction that contains a topic sentence; three body paragraphs; and a conclusion.
    • All sources must be cited properly according to APA style as outlined in Chapter 16 of the text and any other sources as directed by my directions in class. See the sample paper in Appendix B for a sample paper that includes citations and proper formatting according to APA style guidelines. All citations must be placed within the text of your paper and listed on a separate Works Cited page at the end of your paper (see Chapter 16 in the text.
    • All papers must be written in 12-point font; font and text size changes are not allowed on papers receiving extra credit except as specified by my directions in class.
    • As discussed in class, there are two ways students can earn extra credit on this assignment. (1. Students can submit an outline that adheres to all of the above requirements before their scheduled due date for the regular assignment; or (2. students can submit a completed article that adheres to all of the above requirements before their scheduled due date for the regular assignment with a note from their instructor requesting an extension to their regular due date for the CpligsoSay Assignment because of documented academic or extracurricular commitments beyond their contrp that precluded them from completing the regular assignment before their scheduled due date (such as interviewing for or traveling with one or more sports teams or attending one or more athletic events for which you have been selected as a member of one or more teams. In addition, if you choose option 2 above, please include copies of any relevant documentation (e.g., game and travel schedules listing games and corresponding dates; interviews with athletic teams schedule listing dates; academics schedule listing days and times interviews were scheduled; etc..
