The company was founded in 2004 by Christian Chabot, Chris Stpte and Pat Hanrahan. The company offers two different products. Tableau Desktop and Tableau Online.

The company was founded in 2004 with the aim of making data analytics easier to understand and faster to deploy. In 2008, Tableau Software was named one of the fastest growing companies in the United States by Deloitte. In October 2015, Tableau launched Tableau 10 at its annual user conference, Vision2015.

On June 18, 2017, Tableau announced that Adam Selipsky would replace from founder Christian Chabot as President and Chief Executive Officer effective July 12, 2017.

Vend? Vend is a cloud-based point-of-sale (POS. software for small and medium businesses (SMBs. It was started by a husband and wife team in Australia in 2010 and released publicly in 2011. Vend is designed specifically for SMBs and requires little technical knowledge to set up. Vend operates primarily through a native iPad app or a browser-based app. Vend currently operates in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United Kingdom. Vend also supports multi-currency, multi-taxation and multi-language capabilities. Vend can be integrated with accounting packages such as Xero, Quickbooks and MYOB. Vend is compatible with card readers from Verifone and Ingenico. Vend is also integrated with Square via a Square Reader SDK integration which allows merchants to receive payments via a Square Reader.
