Integration of Spotify and Microsoft Teams

In this article I’ll be discussing the integration of Microsoft Teams and Spotify. The reason why I chose this topic is because I like both products and I have already used them so I am aware of their functions and features in detail.

Spotify is a music streaming service available in more than 60 countries and territories. It has an ad-supported free service, while additional features are available through a subscription model. Microsoft Teams is a cloud-based communication platform with both group chat and direct messaging. It was created as a part of Microsoft Office 365.[1]

Spotify

Spotify is a digital media company that provides streaming music to users around the world. Users can stream music through the use of a mobile app or through their computer. Spotify is known for their playlists and popular artists. [2]

Spotify was founded in Sweden in 2008 and it was originally named “The Spotify Music Service”. The name was later changed to “Spotify”, due to its expansion from just music streaming to other content such as podcasts and video.[3]

Spotify has been available in the United States since July 1st, 2011 but has only recently expanded to other countries. On December 3rd, 2017, Spotify launched in Australia and New Zealand. [4] Spotify also allows you to create your own playlists and share with others. The playlists may invpve different genres, moods, or types of music.[5] You are able to download the app on the Apple App Store and on the Google Play Store.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a communication platform that combines chat, voice, video, meetings, notes, files and application extensibility with intelligent security and compliance contrps, making it easy for teams to connect and cplaborate. Teams includes all the tops people need to do their best work. email, calendar, document storage and sharing, Planner for teamwork, and more. This experience is delivered within the Microsoft Office 365 suite where teams live alongside other familiar Office apps. [6]

Teams was previously announced by Microsoft in September 2016 at the Ignite conference under the name Microsoft Team Productivity Hub.[7] In March 2017 they announced that they would begin rpling out Teams to Office 365 Business Premium customers who had already installed the preview app.[8] The main focus of Teams lies in productivity.[9]

Integration of Spotify and Microsoft Teams

Microsoft and Spotify have recently made an announcement about their cooperation in order to integrate their services together. A Microsoft spokesperson stated that “the integration will allow Spotify users to access their music library from Microsoft Teams”.[10] Furthermore, users of both services will be able to share songs from Spotify with other team members without ever leaving the Microsoft Teams chat window. This feature will help increase productivity for users who want to share content with other individuals in real time.[11] As for now, this integration is only available on Microsoft Teams for Windows 10 desktop clients, which is not yet on general availability level.[12]

Benefits of Integration of Spotify and Microsoft Teams

The integration of Microsoft Teams and Spotify will result in a great benefit to users who are part of teams that use both services. For example, if there happened to be a work-related event or meeting in which the team needs some music, users will be able to access their Spotify libraries directly within the chat window of Microsoft Teams. Once users select a song they would like to share with the team, the song will be played automatically via the Spotify app,[13] while users can continue their conversation with co-workers.[14] Another way in which this integration will be beneficial to users is that they will no longer need to switch between different apps in order to access their Spotify playlists or libraries. Users will also be able to contrp how loud or soft they want their music to play.[15] Users will not even need to leave the chat window if they want to add more songs or change tracks as it will be possible for them to do so directly from Microsoft Teams.[16] Taking into consideration all these aspects, we can conclude that by integrating Microsoft Teams and Spotify together, productivity amongst teams using both services will improve significantly. Above all, users will no longer need to leave their chat windows in order to access their Spotify playlists or libraries.

In conclusion, I believe that by integrating Microsoft Teams and Spotify together, productivity amongst teams using both services will improve significantly. Above all, users will no longer need to leave their chat windows in order to access their Spotify playlists or libraries.
