Snapchat is a mobile app that allows its users to take pictures or videos, add captions/text and drawings, and send them to their friends. The recipients have up to ten seconds to view the pictures or videos before they disappear into the internet; the receiver can only view the images once. It also allows the sender to choose whether or not they want their friends to be able to respond with pictures or videos and/or text. The sender can also set a timer for how long his/her friends can view their images. In recent days, Snapchat has allowed its users to post pictures and videos on "Our Story", which is an application where users from different parts of the world can post their pictures and videos in a given time period (usually 1-2 hours. These pictures and videos are viewed by other Snapchat users around the world who are interested in viewing those pictures and videos on "Our Story". Snapchat encourages its users to use safe messaging practices. Snapchat's Terms of Service say that users must be at least 13 years pd to use the service. Additionally, if a user thinks someone is under 13 years of age, he/she must report it through Snapchat or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Basecamp 2 is a web application used by software companies as well as small businesses. It is a project management top, which means it allows project teams to upload files, manage tasks, communicate with each other regarding project status, and record progress towards achieving project goals. It also has features like file sharing, task management, file storage, commenting, time tracking, etc.
In this section, I will talk about how Snapchat's ideas could be integrated with Basecamp 2 to improve communication between team members. For example, a team member could take a picture of his/her current work area using the Snapchat app. Then, he/she could use Basecamp 2's image annotation top to tag different areas of the image with a label that corresponds with a similar area on a Basecamp 2 map. Using this feature, team members would be able to share any pictures taken of their work areas with each other. This would allow the team members to get a better idea of what everyone is working on. Team members could also upload videos onto Basecamp 2's "Project Video" page. This would allow the rest of the team to see what each person's job entails. Also, team members could use Basecamp 2's video annotation top to place labels on their videos in order to show what tasks they were performing while filming. This would make communication easier because one would not need to describe what exactly he/she was doing; he/she could instead just point out what activity he/she was doing in the video without saying a word.
In this section, I will talk about the benefits of integrating Snapchat and Basecamp 2. For example, using Snapchat's drawing tops in conjunction with Basecamp 2 would allow team members to emphasize certain aspects of their work areas that might have otherwise been overlooked by other team members if no attempt had been made at improving communication between team members. These pictures could be used in meetings to help remind team members of specific things that they did in their work areas while working on a particular project. Similarly, if someone wants to draw attention to certain aspects of a video; he/she can use Basecamp 2's annotation tops so that others can see what specific activities he/she was doing in the video. This integration would also benefit both Snapchat and Basecamp 2 because it would increase business for both companies. More than anything else, this integration would benefit the company I am working for because it is my responsibility to come up with ideas for enhancing communication between our employees.
