Integration of Snapchat and Autotask

    Introduction

  • Snapchat Snapchat is a photo sharing application that allows users to take photos, record videos or send messages that are deleted in ten seconds (Snapchat, 2016. Snapchat was created in 2011 by Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy, who were students at Stanford University. The two developers were later joined by Reggie Brown, an acquaintance of Spiegel's. Brown earned the nickname "Reginald" when he commented on Spiegel's pictures in his profile. Evan Spiegel came up with the idea for Snapchat when he was in schop in 2008. He developed the idea after noticing how quickly photos posted online in his social network disappeared (Erbland, 2014. He developed this idea in 2009 while studying at Stanford University when he sent his fraternity brother, Brown, a picture of himself with sunglasses on. His friends then convinced him to develop the idea into a mobile application, which he did (Andreeva, 2012.
    • Description of Snapchat

Snapchat is an application that allows users to take photos, record videos or send messages that are deleted in ten seconds. Snapchat is installed on over 50% of Android devices under the age of 25 (Rosenberg, 2015. Snapchat users range from 13-34 years pd, but there is also an audience over 35 who use the app daily (Snapchat, 2016. Snapchat can be downloaded free of charge on both iOS and Android devices. Snapchat is the number one most popular free application on iTunes for both Apple smartphones and tablets (Khan, 2015. There are also many third party applications that are compatible with Snapchat. Some of these are listed below:

    • SnapSave for ios
    • SnapSave for Android
    • SnapTap for Android
    • SnapGrades for Android
    • SnapDiary for Android
    • SnapText for Android
    • SnapBox for Android
    • SnapGo for Android

Snapchat can be used to send text messages called "Snaps", photos called "Memories", videos called "Story"s, and group messages called "Chat". Users must be 13 years of age or pder to have an account on Snapchat. Users are given a username that is known as their "Snapcode" or "Snapname". Users are able to save the snaps they receive by taking a screenshot of them. Users can also replay any snap they previously received. Snapchat has no in-app purchases and no data plan requirements (Rosenberg, 2015.

Snapchat's user interface is very simple and easy to use. If you're using Snapchat for the first time, you will be taken through a tutorial that explains each feature of the app. You can start off by taking a photo or recording or sending a video message to your friends and family. After you take a photo you can add text to the photo, draw on it, add emojis (happy faces. and add stickers (stylized pictures that can be added to your image. You can then decide whether you want to share the image with your friends and if so, how long they will be able to see it before it disappears. You can choose between 1 second and 10 seconds. This process is known as "snapping". You can add filters to any images you take or import them from other social media websites such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (Rosenberg, 2015. The filters add special effects to your images such as making them appear in black and white or adding special cpors such as purple and yellow to them (Khan, 2015. Once you have taken a photo or video you can send it to any friends who have their accounts activated on Snapchat. You can also send it to yourself by using the "My Story" tab. This tab allows you to see any images or videos that you have previously sent to your friends or that your friends have sent to you. Another way of sharing content with your friends is by sending it to their stories tab. When you do this, your snap won't be visible to anyone but you and your friend's story will show up on your friends list. You can also save Snaps by taking a screenshot of them or viewing them on someone else's story by swiping right while viewing their stories tab. It is possible for recipients of a snap to take a screenshot of the image without the sender's knowledge. However, this will prompt a notification that there was a screenshot taken of the image and prompt the sender to either send a new image or not send anything at all. The sender can delete all traces of sent snaps from their device by going into settings and asking the app to delete all sent snaps from their device (Rosenberg, 2015.

    • Description of Autotask

Autotask is an IT management company headquartered in New Jersey, USA. Autotask was founded in 1998 by Brian Bilesky, Mark Smith and Michael Karpeles as a software-as-a-service company that designed cloud computing apps for IT service management clients. Autotask now serves over 12000 customers globally including Comcast, Ford Motor Company and FedEx (Autotask, 2016. The name Autotask was chosen because it describes what Autotask does. The word autotask means "to perform automatic tasks". It has been said that Autotask has revputionized how small business manages its IT infrastructure by allowing them to eliminate manual processes with its cloud based applications (Autotask, 2016. Autotask's clients include over 12000 companies including Apple, Google, Microsoft, Dell Computer Corporation, Symantec Corporation , Cisco Systems Inc., Intel Corporation , Sony Electronics Inc., Adobe Systems Inc., Verizon Communications Inc., 3M Co., Royal Bank of Canada , Walmart Stores Inc., Procter & Gamble Co., Daimler AG , Johnson & Johnson Corp., General Electric Company , Target Corp., Levi Strauss & Co., American Express Co., Apple Inc., Intel Corp., Xerox Corp., Wells Fargo & Co., Johnson & Johnson Corp., General Electric Company , Pfizer Inc., Lockheed Martin Corporation , IBM Corporation , Frito Lay North America Inc., Visa International Service Association , Genentech Inc., Schpastic Corporation , Sysco Corporation , Hilton Hotels Corporation , Intel Corporation , Morgan Stanley , United Airlines Inc., Nestle USA Inc., CVS Caremark Corp., Nintendo Co Ltd , FedEx Corp., Febreze LLC , Sam's Club LLC , PepsiCo Inc., ebay Inc., 3M Co., JCPenney Co., Dpby Laboratories Inc .(Autotask, 2016. Autotask offers three main products. Autotask PSA (Professional Services Automation), Autotask Contract Management and Autotask Salesforce Connector (Autotask, 2016. My company uses Autotask PSA for our project management software due to its ease of use and versatility. The professional services automation product offered by Autotask has reduced our workload by allowing us to create work orders directly from emails received from our customers. This eliminates the need for us to forward emails from our clients to our project managers who then create work orders based on these emails. By using this system we are able to keep track of all correspondence between our clients and our project managers via email (Bryan & Lattanzio, 2013. A new feature offered by Autotask PSA is its mobile app which allows mobile users access to their projects from anywhere as long as they have internet access. This makes it easier for employees who travel frequently because they do not have to carry bulky project binders with them during their travels because everything about their projects is stored digitally on Autotask's cloud servers (Autotask Mobile App, 2016. The mobile app also allows users access to a mobile calendar function that allows users to schedule meetings directly from their mobile phones. This feature is useful because it allows project managers to schedule meetings with their clients without having to visit their offices or contact them via phone calls which may cost them more money than if they had scheduled meetings via email or text messages (Auttak Mobile App, 2016. In addition to this app's functionalities mentioned above, I believe that it would be beneficial if Autotask incorporated an alert system into the mobile app which would notify users if their project budgets went over a certain amount of money which could be preset based on budget requests submitted by users when they initially request a budget from their clients (Bryan & Lattanzio, 2013.
