Slack is a cloud-based team cplaboration top. Slack is used for communication with cpleagues, friends, etc. It allows you to have private group conversations with your friends or coworkers, or you can create public channels where anyone can be part of it. To do so, Slack has a bunch of integrations for various applications and services, so you can use them while talking to your cpleagues.
One of such integrations is Spotify. Spotify is a music streaming app which allows you to play millions of songs from various artists. It offers a free version with ads and a paid one without ads.
So, in this article I will explain how to integrate Slack and Spotify and how to use them together.
Integration of Slack and Spotify is an amazing feature that allows you to play songs in your private channels and groups. To do so, you need to download the Spotify integration for Slack and then add the command /player into Slack menu.
After you do that, you can play any song or album from your Spotify account, simply by typing /player [name of song] [name of artist] [name of album] [name of category]. For example. /player Boombox by @BTS_twt [Bulletproof Boy Scouts] [Love Yourself. Tear] [K-Pop] [Music]. This way, your entire team can easily find nice songs and listen to them together in one private channel.
However, if you want to add more songs into that group, then you must use the command /add [song name], for example. /add Fire by @The1975 [Music]. After you do that, the song will be added into your playlist and every member of this private channel or group will be able to listen to it.
In case you want to remove a song from the playlist, you must use the command /remove [song name], for example. /remove Losing My Edge by @LCDsoundsystem [Music]. After that, the song will be removed from the list.
Also, if you want to pause a song, then type /pause [song name], for example. /pause Waiting Room by @ArcadeFire [Neon Bible] [Music]. If you want to resume playing a paused song, then type /resume [song name].
In case you would like to add a song from other category, then add another command. For example, if it’s a classical track, then add /add [song name] [category name], for example. /add Canon in D Major by Pachelbel [Classical]. Also, after that you can add the command /playlist [name of playlist], for example. /playlist Pop Hits 2017 [Music]. Thanks to this command you don’t have to add the commands for each song manually, but just add the playlist name into Slack chat and then it will automatically filter all songs inside that playlist into that channel.
