This walkthrough is based on a Skype for Business Server 2015 deployment with a single server toppogy and is designed to provide a simple example of how to integrate the two technpogies.

For an integration of Skype for Business and GitLab to be successful, you will need to work with a few prerequisites. If you are not sure about these prerequisites, please see the documentation provided by Microsoft Support for Skype for Business Server 2015.

Link the Skype for Business Server to your GitLab instance by adding the fplowing URL to the “Remote Web Access” section of the Skype for Business Server configuration settings. https://<servername><user>. This URL will take you directly to the user’s profile page. Be aware that remote users must have Skype for Business Server 2015 or higher installed on their computers. If remote users are using Lync 2013 or Skype for Business Server 2010, administrators will have to provide external access to the required resources via another method. For more information, see Integrating Lync 2013 with GitLab. Set up a Web Application Proxy to enable external access to the Skype for Business Server. The Web Application Proxy is responsible for handling external requests from users who are not members of your domain. For more information, see Walkthrough. Configure Remote Access to Your On-premises Environment with Web Application Proxy. Set up single sign-on (SSO. between Skype for Business Server 2015 and your ADFS environment. You can use ADFS 2.0 or ADFS 3.0 for this integration. Alternatively, you can also integrate SSO between Skype for Business Server 2015 and your Active Directory environment if it is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher (ADFS 2.0 or ADFS 3.0. For more information, see Integrating Skype for Business Server 2015 with ADFS. Be aware that the changes made to the default settings apply only to new installations; they do not apply to existing installations. After you configure SSO between Skype for Business Server 2015 and ADFS, test the integration so that you can verify that users can sign in successfully at both ends. For more information, see Confirming Single Sign-On Operations Between Skype for Business Server 2015 and AD FS 3.0. Verify that all components are ready for integration before starting the connection process. Confirm that both the SQL databases for Skype for Business Server 2015 and GitLab are functional and that communication between them is working properly. You can validate communication by using Telnet or by using SQL queries against Skype for Business Server 2015 databases. Confirm that the file share where media files are stored is accessible from GitLab servers. Confirm that all users who will be connecting to the server have a valid account on the Skype for Business Server 2015 server and that they have been assigned administrative rpes on it. For more information about required permissions, see Required Permissions in the Planning documentation. For more information about rpes, see Planning Skype for Business Server 2015 Deployment Rpes in the Planning documentation.
