Integration of Shopify and uProc

Shopify

Shopify is a Canadian company that builds online shopping carts and online stores. It was founded in 2004 by Tobias Lütke, Daniel Weinand, Scott Lake and Scott Tarantino. Shopify has its headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario and offices in Montreal, Toronto, New York City, San Francisco, London, Dublin, Berlin and Sydney. As of January 2019, Shopify has 500,000 merchants using its platform to build their online stores. The company is also an e-commerce provider.

In 2018, Shopify launched its own cryptocurrency called the “SHOP token”. It is not a blockchain based currency but rather a smart contract ERC-20 token on Ethereum’s network. Merchants can accept payments in SHOP tokens without having to convert them into fiat currencies like the US dplar. Shopify users can also pay for services and buy apps on the Shopify App Store using SHOP tokens.

Approximately 1/3 of all businesses accepting cryptocurrencies are using Shopify as their e-commerce spution. Shopify is one of the more popular e-commerce sputions used by cryptocurrency related companies.

uProc

uProc is a payment gateway offering end-to-end sputions for international payment processing. uProc supports credit card payment processing, bank transfer payment processing, and cryptocurrency payment processing (Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Litecoin. Additionally, uProc offers online invoicing, online tax invoicing and online accounting services. All of these services are offered free of charge when paid for with uProc’s native currency called uTokens.

Integration of Shopify and uProc

There are two ways that Shopify merchants can integrate uProc into their Shopify store. The first way is by using the uProc plugin which is available through the Shopify app store. However, this integration requires some technical knowledge to get it installed properly and configured properly. To do this you will need to be proficient in Ruby on Rails development. The second way that merchants can integrate uProc into their Shopify store is by using the API integration provided by uProc. This method doesn’t require any experience with Ruby on Rails so it is much simpler for merchants who are not familiar with programming or technical issues related to running a Shopify store. For those merchants who prefer to use the API integration there is a quick setup guide available here. https://www.uproc.com/docs/api#quick-setup

The quickest way to get started using the API integration is to download the sample code from GitHub. https://github.com/uProc/uProc-Shopify-API-Example/blob/master/README.md. This example code will give you an idea of how to integrate uProc into your Shopify store via the API integration. After you have downloaded the code simply run “bundle install” in your terminal window and then start the application by running “rails server” in your terminal window. You should then be able to go to http://0.0.0.0:3000/ in order to view the demo site that has been created with the sample code that you downloaded from GitHub. If you want to see how to integrate your own Shopify store with uProc via the API integration then refer to the documentation found here. https://www.uproc.com/docs/api/. If you decide to implement the API integration then contact us directly at [email protected] if you have questions about the API or if you would like help getting it set up correctly.

Benefits of Integration of Shopify and uProc

Merchants using uProc as their payment processor benefit from lower transaction fees than they would incur if they were using PayPal as their payment processor (PayPal charges 2.6% plus $0.30 per transaction. Those merchants who choose to accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment will be charged no transaction fees when they use uProc as their payment processor because there are no fees associated with using cryptocurrency as a means of payment (cryptocurrencies have low or zero transaction fees. Merchants using uProc as their payment processor will also benefit from free online invoicing, free online tax invoices, free online accounting and free online rebilling (rebilling is an option where customers can select recurring subscriptions for products that they already purchased. These benefits are not available if you use PayPal or other traditional payment processors as your payment processor for your e-commerce business.
