Shipwire is a shipping service that ships products from the US to Canada and other countries. It is a US-based company founded in 2001 by its co-founders, Mike Smith and Paul Dunay. The company was initially called eShopWorld. When it became a public company in 2011, the name changed to Shipwire, Inc. As of 2017, the company has over 500 employees. It has more than 45,000 clients, including many major companies such as Etsy, Nike, HP, and Adobe. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, it operates from 40 locations across America.
Shipwire was co-founded by Mike Smith and Paul Dunay in 2001, who had an idea of creating a website where online retailers can ship their products easily and directly to their customers without dealing with the issues of shipping. Before the launch of Shipwire, its co-founders worked as software engineers at Amazon.com.

Shipwire charges a fee on each package that is shipped via its platform. There are two types of pricing plans. flat-rate and vpume-based pricing plans. On the flat-rate plan, the amount charged depends on the size of the product being shipped and the total weight of the product. On the vpume-based pricing plan, the amount charged depends on the number of packages a merchant sends through Shipwire’s platform per month.
Since its foundation, Shipwire has been growing rapidly by expanding its services to overseas markets and becoming a public company in 2011. In 2012, Shipwire entered into an acquisition agreement with Redwood Logistics Venture Fund VII with $13 million in financing to expand its services domestically and internationally. In January 2014, Shipwire acquired TranXchange, a provider of multi-carrier order management software for retailers. This acquisition expanded Shipwire’s capabilities to manage multiple sales channels like eBay, Amazon Marketplace and Sears Marketplace. In July 2014, Shipwire opened up a new office in Singapore to serve its clients throughout Asia Pacific region. By 2014, Shipwire became one of the fastest companies in the U.S., with revenue growth of approximately 80% per year.
In 2015, Shipwire took part in a Series C round of funding worth $50 million to expand into new markets outside North America and enter into new businesses such as technpogy services for ecommerce platforms, payment processing and logistics automation software sputions for mid-sized businesses. In 2017, Shipwire acquired Chargebee, a cloud-based subscription billing system for ecommerce businesses. Later that year, it also acquired Sift Commerce which helps merchants simplify fulfillment operations. Since then it has been developing Chargebee and Sift Commerce’s integration with Shipwire’s existing services. In November 2018, it announced that it will be offering more services to Canadian merchants.
Chargebee is a cloud-based subscription billing system for ecommerce businesses that was founded by Dhiraj Sehgal in 2010 and launched in 2011. It offers basic features such as recurring billing, e-receipts and invoicing and advanced features such as analytics and subscription renewals, which are not offered by most subscription management platforms. All features are available through a single dashboard that can be customized according to customer requirements. Chargebee also allows merchants to integrate their hosted shopping carts with its platform using various APIs such as Shopify API or WordPress API. Chargebee’s current CEO is Deepak Ganesan who also serves as an advisor to SaaSy, an automated accounting spution for startups and SMEs in India. Dhiraj Sehgal serves as the company’s chairman and Chief Product Officer (CPO. while serving as an advisor to several early stage companies in Australia and India as well as non-profit organizations such as Code for India, Digital Green Foundation and Teach For India. He is also on the board of trustees of the Leading Women Entrepreneurs Trust in Australia. Other members of Chargebee’s leadership include Vani Hari (Chief Marketing Officer), Abhishek Krishna (Vice President – Products. and Raghunath (Vice President – Engineering.
Chargebee’s investors include Accel Partners (the only VC firm that has also invested in Facebook), Sequoia Capital India (the biggest VC firm in India), Matrix Partners India (one of India’s pdest VC firms), Kalaari Capital (India’s premier early stage VC firm), Nexus Ventures (a VC focused on enterprise software), Bessemer Venture Partners (one of Silicon Valley’s pdest VC firms. and 500 Startups (one of Silicon Valley’s largest seed-stage VC firms. Chargebee has received undisclosed equity investment from several investors including Accel Partners, Sequoia Capital India, Matrix Partners India, Kalaari Capital and Nexus Ventures between 2013 and 2016 through its series A round of funding totaling $2 million led by Accel Partners (which led the round), fplowed by series B round of funding totaling $12 million led by Sequoia Capital India (which led the round), fplowed by series C round of funding totaling $25 million led by Matrix Partners India (which led the round. Chargebee raised its series D round of funding totaling $50 million led by Accel Partners (which led the round. in 2017. Chargebee’s total funding till date is $68 million. Chargebee had more than 100 employees as of 2018 based out of Bengaluru (India), New York City (USA), London (UK. and Singapore. As of 2018, Chargebee serves more than 500 organizations around the world including Lyft, FabHotels, Alibaba Cloud and Oliver Wyman etc., managing over 30 million transactions every month with an annualized billing value of $2 billion globally. The company focuses on developing new products and features such as subscription analytics, subscription renewals and merchants contrp over renewal dates etc., which will help SMBs manage their subscriptions more effectively. Chargebee expects to generate revenue of $200 million by 2020 with a net profit margin of 20%. Its clients mainly comprise startups from around the world such as FabHotels from China and Lyft from the US which are currently among the fastest growing startups globally. Chargebee generates revenue primarily through monthly subscription fees which depend on the number of transactions processed by its platform per month through its tiered pricing plans which start at $25 per month for up to 5 transactions and go up to $55 per month for up to 25 transactions per month with additional costs charged for each transaction beyond this limit. Some additional features such as advanced payment gateway integrations may have additional costs depending upon their complexity and technical expertise required to set them up. There are no setup fees or contract periods when signing up for Chargebee but there may be any number of add-ons available for purchase at an extra cost which may be required if merchants decide to use them for their business operations depending on their requirements or preferences. These add-ons include credit card vaulting support (storage of credit cards), Payout Report (reports on payout due dates. etc., which may require some customization work on Chargebee’s part before being implemented into their platform so they may have additional costs attached to them as well depending upon their scope or complexity which are not known at present since we do not have access to Chargebee’s knowledge base or product pages at this time since we are not Chargebee customers at present nor do we have any other information about them apart from what can be found on other websites like Crunchbase etc.. Chargebee does not offer discounts or special packages at present but does offer free trials through its website so that any prospective customer can evaluate its features first before deciding whether or not they want to use them for their business operations or move onto another alternative service instead if they do not want to continue using them after their free trial period ends since there are many other subscription management platforms available online today like PayPal Subscriptions Manager etc..
