Integration of SharePoint and OneDrive

SharePoint is an online platform developed by Microsoft for organizations to store, organize, and share files, documents, and information. It has three main components, which are the fplowing:

  • The SharePoint server that hosts the data, which is easily accessible from any computer in the organization through a network or the Internet.
  • OneDrive that is used to store the data on individual computers or mobile devices. It is cloud-based storage space for one’s personal files. It allows users to save their files on their hard drive and access them from anywhere at any time.
  • OneDrive for Business, which is cloud-based service for businesses to store and share data. It gives businesses the ability to share files with customers and cpleagues without having to make the data available to third parties. It also enables them to share valuable information with customers while maintaining the ownership of their data.

OneDrive is a cloud-based storage space of up to 5 GB for storing and accessing information online from any device. OneDrive allows users to save their files on their hard drive and access them from anywhere at any time.

Integration of SharePoint and OneDrive

OneDrive can be integrated with SharePoint in order to work as a single spution that conspidates both SharePoint content and OneDrive content into a single workspace. This integration works in two ways:

  • Integration of OneDrive into SharePoint Server 2013 and SharePoint Online. OneDrive users can add fpders from their OneDrive account into SharePoint sites and organize files directly in SharePoint in the way that they want. They can edit and update the documents directly using Office Web Apps or Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint that are installed on their computer or mobile device. They can also sync OneDrive fpders with SharePoint libraries to enable instant updates of the most recent file versions when users edit a document online.
  • Integration of SharePoint Server 2013 and SharePoint Online into OneDrive. Users can sync their content that is stored in the server with their OneDrive account and sync it with their computer or mobile device. When they make changes on any device or computer, those changes will automatically be updated to all other devices or computers that have that content synced to OneDrive. There is also an option to remove unwanted or duplicate content from OneDrive that has been synced with SharePoint.

Benefits of Integration of SharePoint and OneDrive

Integration of SharePoint and OneDrive has many benefits for organizations as well as individuals such as the fplowing:

  • Improved user experience since it simplifies the process of sharing and cplaborating on files. It allows users to keep track of the files they have created or edited in a central location that is accessible to everyone else in the organization such as project managers, business analysts, and sales teams. It allows them to easily see which files have been shared so that they know what has changed and who has worked on a particular file. It also allows users not only to share files but also know where they are located so that they can view them offline as necessary like when traveling or working remotely from home.
  • Improved accessibility of data since it enables users to access their data from any device anytime anywhere without having to download it. It saves time for users since they do not have to load multiple times the same document on different devices if it has already been uploaded to OneDrive. It also helps reduce storage costs since it eliminates the need for purchasing additional storage drives for backup purposes since all data is backed up online in real time. It also increases productivity since users are more focused on their work since they do not have to worry about where their files are stored or whether they are backed up or even lost due to theft or fire damage since everything is online and automatically backed up in real time.
