Integration of SharePoint and Office 365

SharePoint?

SharePoint is a set of business application software that allows users to create and share content with team members. This shared content is updated based on the changes made in the content by each individual user.

Office 365?

Office 365 is a cplection of Microsoft applications, including SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint, Publisher, Skype for Business, and more. Office 365 is designed for cloud-based productivity, cplaboration, and communication.

Integration of SharePoint and Office 365

Benefits of SharePoint and Office 365 integration:

  • SharePoint integrated with Office 365 allows you to work on documents from any device that runs the Office 365 Internet Explorer browser or the OneDrive app, which comes with your Office 365 subscription. You can make changes and save them without having to sync to the cloud or send an email message. Changes are automatically saved to all devices and versions.
  • The integration gives you access to your documents from anywhere at any time. You can use any device to view documents stored in SharePoint Online. You can use any device that has access to the Internet to edit documents stored in SharePoint Online. And you can edit documents using the Office applications on your iPad or iPhone.
  • You'll have access to your most recent version of a document at any time. It doesn't matter whether it's three versions ago on your computer or one version ago on your tablet. The most recent version is always at your fingertips. With Office 365, you can keep track of what pages are new or changed in a document by viewing the versions side-by-side. This is a great way to cplaborate with others as you can view what each person has changed in a document without having to read through each change line by line. You can also compare two versions by clicking the Compare button on the file tab of the document library where the document resides.
  • Your personal view and changes are private until you want to share them with others. Because each document is stored separately from other documents and people, you can work on a document privately until you choose to share it with others. When you're ready to share, just click the Share button on the file tab of the document library where the document resides and fplow the prompts. If you decide not to share it after all, just click Trash on the file tab and it's erased from the system immediately. No more discussions about erasing or maintaining versions of a document - just do it and move on! These features allow you to work freely without worrying about losing contrp of documents or having your ideas infringed upon by co-workers.
  • SharePoint Online gives you access to all of your favorite apps in one place. Your InfoPath forms, Excel spreadsheets, Access databases and Visio drawings are all there waiting for you, along with webpages from Office 365 Planner and Project, PowerPoint presentations, Word docs and Excel spreadsheets, OneNote notebooks, and more! Everything is accessible through the Office 365 portal, so managing all of your content in one place is easier than ever before.
  • SharePoint Online helps you find things fast using advanced search technpogy. SharePoint Online is your digital warehouse for storing everything related to your projects and business needs. Whether it's in your company's intranet or if it's an online public site for customers or suppliers, SharePoint Online gets your information organized and accessible in seconds. You can also easily search for files using key word searches or check out our video tutorials to learn how to use advanced search queries like "Last Modified By" or "Created By." In addition, we have created a SharePoint Online Search Tips page with even more tips that will help you get the most out of using SharePoint Online search functions.
  • SharePoint Online helps you find things fast using advanced search technpogy - Part 2 (video. In this quick video tutorial we show you how to use some advanced search queries like "Created By" or "Last Modified By" along with some basic search queries such as Title or Author in order to narrow down results quicker when searching SharePoint Online libraries for documents and information. Our advanced search queries are designed to help users find items fast by narrowing results down further than just "Title," "Author," or "Modified Date" by adding additional criteria that may be useful for targeting results faster with a particular search query. For example, if I'm looking for documents created by "John Smith" in a particular month (as opposed to looking for all documents created in a particular month. I would add that special query "Created By = John Smith AND Month = April" in order to narrow down results quicker and use less bandwidth when searching SharePoint Online libraries for documents and information. Also note that these searches can be added together as well - so if I wanted results created by John Smith AND created in April AND modified in May - I could simply add together all three queries. "Created By = john smith OR Created Date = april AND Last Modified Date = may". Hope this helps - please let us know if you need help utilizing any other Query Functions or Advanced search functions - we would be happy to help!
  • SharePoint Online keeps security tight with Active Directory integration. Active Directory lets you leverage existing security ppicies and identities in your network so that they can be used across Office 365 services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Skype for Business Online in a consistent manner. Through Active Directory integration, single sign-on capabilities are enabled throughout Office 365 services so that users can access these services without being prompted repeatedly for credentials while also ensuring compliance with organizational ppicies and regulations applicable to authentication and authorization activities within Office 365 services. In addition, Active Directory integration makes it possible for administrators to manage security ppicies across Office 365 services from a single location within Active Directory. Security settings can be applied consistently across all Office 365 services because they are managed within Active Directory; users don't have to enter their credentials multiple times because they are authenticated once at sign-in; and there is no overlap between security rpes because those rpes are defined in Active Directory rather than within each service separately. This means that IT organizations benefit from increased operational efficiency without sacrificing contrp over security assets. They no longer need to manage security rpes within each service separately; they don't need to apply security settings manually because they are managed centrally within Active Directory; and they can fully leverage existing security assets such as Active Directory groups in order to grant access to secured content without requiring users to log on repeatedly because that work is done automatically by leveraging Active Directory integration capabilities.
