  • External system integration (ESI. – ESI is used when there is a need to push data from one application into another. For example, a change made in Salesforce would need to be pushed into ServiceNow or any other 3rd party application. ESI also allows for integration of data from one system into another. In this case, data from ServiceNow can be used by other applications via ESI.
  • Hybrid integration – Hybrid integration allows for both SSI and ESI to be configured at the same time. In this instance, data from both Salesforce and ServiceNow can be used by other applications via SSI and ESI. This kind of data can be pulled from one system and pushed to another using SSI and ESI respectively. This allows for a complete flow of information between multiple systems, allowing for a high level of efficiency within an organization. Data can be integrated between systems either manually or automatically. Manual integration allows a user to turn on/off integration between systems while automatic integration takes care of turning on/off by itself based on pre-determined rules such as time of day or date.
