Google Docs is a free suite of office applications developed by Google. It allows users to create and edit documents online while cplaborating with other users in real time. Documents can be shared publicly or with specific people. Google Docs is compatible with Microsoft Office, and documents can be saved in Microsoft Office file formats such as Word, Spreadsheets, and Presentations.
Google Docs was launched on April 28, 2006 in response to the popularity of Web 2.0 services such as blogs and wikis. Its development was led by two former employees of Netscape, Brian Stevens and Lars Rasmussen. As of October 2014, Google Docs had 425 million users worldwide, and as of January 2017 it has 800 million users.
Google Docs and ServiceNow can be integrated using the Google Apps Script API. With the integration of these two software programs, users can access their Google Drive files from within ServiceNow’s user interface. This allows users to read and edit their Google Drive files without leaving ServiceNow, making it easier for users to access documents stored in Google Drive. Users can also save changes made in ServiceNow into Google Drive automatically.
In addition, this integration allows users to view files created in their Google Drive accounts from within ServiceNow’s user interface. This not only helps with organization but also makes it easier to share documents with others who might also have access to the same file or document in their personal Google Drive accounts. For example, if a user creates a document in his or her personal Google Drive account and then shares it with other users, those users can view the document from within ServiceNow without needing to log into their personal Google Drive accounts.
In addition to improving cplaboration between users by integrating Google Docs into ServiceNow’s user interface, this integration also provides a more secure alternative to saving files locally on each user’s computer. If a user were to save a document on his or her computer in a fpder that was visible on his or her desktop or laptop, another user could access the document using that computer’s operating system and potentially view the document before the first user had finished editing the document on his or her computer. However, if the first user were to save the document in his or her Google Drive account instead of saving it locally on his or her computer, another user would not be able to view the document until the first user had finished editing it on his or her computer. In this way, saving files in Google Drive is a more secure way of storing data than saving them locally on individual computers.
