To develop supporting points for your claims , you will likely use examples , facts , expert opinion or logic . The bulk of your article will then focus on providing support for your supporting points . The last thing you should remember when writing your intro paragraph is that it must grab your reader’s attention so he or she will want to read more . The best way to do this is to start with a hook . An effective hook should provide an attention grabber that makes them curious about what you have to say so they will want to keep reading . There are many different hooks available, but most readers enjoy reading hooks that are interesting , funny , informative , challenging , controversial or reflective . If you don’t know how to craft an effective hook, try brainstorming ideas or reading other people’s hooks for inspiration . The other thing you should remember when writing your intro paragraph is that it must set up everything else in your article . It should give all the reasons why you chose to write about this topic in particular and why you think it’s important .
