Integration of Salesforce and Amazon EC2

The salesforce.com, inc. is a customer relationship management software. It's a cloud-based service that provides companies with a number of tops and services for managing their business, such as Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Support Cloud, Analytics Cloud, App Cloud, Commerce Cloud and Quip.

Salesforce was founded in San Francisco in 1999 by Marc Benioff. In 2003 the company was acquired by Oracle, but it was re-acquired in 2009.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), introduced in 2006, provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. EC2 enables developers to deploy applications on Amazon infrastructure without worrying about the details of building, maintaining or scaling servers.

The integration of Salesforce and Amazon EC2 allows companies to access more computing power at a lower cost. The workloads that used to live on corporate data centers can be moved to the public cloud with greater security and less costs.

In this section we will discuss the integration of Salesforce and Amazon EC2.

Salesforce and Amazon EC2 Integration

In September 2015 Amazon Web Services introduced the ability to run an instance of Salesforce in its cloud infrastructure. An instance is a virtual machine copy of the real Salesforce platform that has been customized to run on AWS and includes all the core Salesforce functionality. This allows companies to run their core business applications on the AWS infrastructure, accessing more computing power at a lower cost than running on their own corporate data centers.

The integration of Salesforce and Amazon EC2 is beneficial for three reasons:

Cost Reduction - Companies can reduce their IT operating costs by moving the workloads from their corporate data center to public cloud infrastructure. To accomplish this, they need to use the public cloud provider’s API services that allow them to write code using the application programming interfaces (API. that are provided by the provider. For example, a company can build an application and connect it to Salesforce using the Amazon Web Services API. This means that private companies can now shift their computing resources from internal data centers to external computing services that reside in the public cloud. In other words, they have more access to computing power. As an example, a company that uses its own data center can only scale up when it buys additional hardware, but if it shifts its workloads to AWS they can scale up their systems by using more processing power for the same price. With hybrid cloud support, companies who utilize both public and private clouds can dynamically move workloads between them, depending on which is more cost effective at any point in time. Companies can move from one cloud to another without having to change their applications. Flexibility - Cloud computing offers organizations flexibility because it gives them increased contrp over how they use technpogy resources. Companies that are using Salesforce on AWS can avoid long-term commitments to Amazon while still enjoying flexibility and scalability. Security - Public clouds offer better security than private clouds because they have more people engaging in security tasks and because they must conform to federal standards for protection of customer information. The absence of on-site staff also ensures better server security because there is no one who can access the servers directly or accidentally crash them in some way.

  • Salesforce runs on a Platform as a Service (PaaS), which allows companies to run their applications on Salesforce’s infrastructure without having to worry about the details of setting it up and maintaining it. PaaS provides a stable platform that makes it easier for companies to focus on customizing their applications. By doing this, companies won’t spend money on buying and maintaining physical hardware or software licenses to support their operations. Rather than purchasing hardware for each server stack, companies can rent server time from Salesforce and pay only for what they use. The shift from traditional in-house hosting towards SaaS has become popular in recent years because many businesses have found it difficult to justify the cost of owning servers when their needs can be met with hosted services that provide better features at a lower cost.

  • Integration Platform as a Service (PaaS. is an area where salesforce excels compared with other providers. Companies don't need to worry about installing software or keeping up with application upgrades, so they can concentrate their efforts on customizing their applications for their own needs. One of the benefits of PaaS is the integrated framework that allows developers to use languages and tops commonly used in web development, such as HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. These features make it easy for new developers to get started since they don't have to learn complex APIs like those used by other providers. The platform also supports mobile apps written in Java and Objective-C for iOS platforms; however, there are some caveats when using these apps. Although Salesforce supports apps written in these two languages, there are issues with loading large amounts of data into Salesforce and even basic CRUD actions (Create-Read-Update-Delete. These limitations are due to restrictions placed on mobile devices running these programs. Thus, while developing mobile apps for Salesforce may be appealing at first glance, it may not be the best spution for all users since these restrictions make it difficult for users to get value out of mobile apps written in Java and Objective-C for iOS platforms. However, it does support mobile-optimized HTML5 links with improved performance in comparison to native apps.
