RingCentral was created to spve the problems associated with traditional telephone system setup and management. Before there were cloud-based services like RingCentral, users had to purchase expensive hardware (such as PBXs), pay for ongoing customer support, pay for ongoing software upgrades and pay for ongoing maintenance of the hardware and software they purchased. All of these costs were eventually passed on to the end user through higher monthly bills. For example, if you wanted to sign up for traditional phone service with AT&T you would have to buy hardware (a PBX. which cost thousands of dplars; then pay AT&T an ongoing monthly fee of $10-$15 per user; then pay AT&T an ongoing monthly fee of $10 per line for each phone line you needed; then pay AT&T an ongoing monthly fee of $7 per trunk line per month; then pay AT&T an ongoing monthly fee of $4 per call per month; then pay AT&T an ongoing monthly fee of $15 per call for each additional PBX you needed to connect your existing PBX to the internet for remote users; then pay AT&T an ongoing monthly fee of $8 per call for each additional PBX you needed to connect your existing PBX to another PBX for interoffice calling; then pay AT&T an ongoing monthly fee of $50 per month per operator that answered your calls. All of these costs are eventually passed on to the end user through higher monthly bills. With RingCentral all of these costs are eliminated except for the cost of the monthly service itself ($15-$25 per user depending upon how many lines are required. If new employees are added or if lines are changed it is possible to make the changes without having to contact any one at AT&T or wait for them to make the changes on their end.
