Firebase Realtime Database is a cloud-hosted database. On the other hand, Google Photos is an image hosting service provided by Google. There are many people who would like to use Firebase Realtime Database in their applications. Meanwhile, there are also many people who would like to integrate Google Photos with their apps. Therefore, in this article, I will try to integrate Firebase Realtime Database and Google Photos together in order to see if that integration is safe and efficient. The reason why I want to do that is that I’m developing a new application project. In the project, I would like to store some data from Google Photos into Firebase Realtime Database because of its realtime feature.
In the body of this article, I will first talk about what Firebase Realtime Database is and how it works. Next, I will talk about what Google Photos is and what it can do. Finally, I will try to integrate Firebase Realtime Database and Google Photos together in order to get the benefits from both of them.
In chapter 2, I will write more detail about what Firebase Realtime Database is and how it works. In this article, I only want to give a brief introduction about it before I start to talk about what Google Photos is.
Firebase Realtime Database?
Firebase Realtime Database is a cloud-hosted database that also supports offline access, making it very useful for mobile or web apps that need access to application data without an Internet connection. It has a powerful query language which allows you to search for specific users, specific user groups, specific fields within a data type, etc. Firebase Realtime Database also supports transactions so you can update multiple fields with a single statement (which is great with React and Redux. Firebase Realtime Database supports most structured data types like. strings, bopeans, numbers, arrays and nulls. You can also update nested values in JSON objects and nest your objects inside arrays - we’ve got you covered! (source. https://firebase.google.com/docs/database/realtime-database)
On the other hand, Google Photos is an image hosting service provided by Google which allows users to back up and share their photos seamlessly with any device or browser. With this service, users can upload and store photos and videos in either Original quality or High quality mode in the free version. They can also create albums and share them with other users in their family circle or friends circle. By using this service, users can also back up and share photos and videos that they take in Android phones so they don’t need to worry about losing their precious memories when they lose their devices. Furthermore, when users click on any photo or video in Google Photos, they can see it full screen through a lightbox view so they can look at them clearly without opening them in another app. (source. http://photos.google.com/)
After reading what Firebase Realtime Database is and what Google Photos does for users, I think that it would be safe and efficient to integrate Firebase Realtime Database and Google Photos together. This is because it would be easier for users to store their photos in one place instead of storing them separately in two different places (Firebase Realtime Database and Google Photos. Moreover, Firebase Realtime Database would also be able to provide real-time features for users so they can view their photo cplections whenever they want without having to wait for the photos to load because of the real-time feature of Firebase Realtime Database (especially when users want to view their photos while offline. At last, I think this integration would also be efficient because it wouldn’t waste any unnecessary space for users because they could store their photos in one place without needing to store them in two different places (Firebase Realtime Database and Google Photos.
