    MySQL?

    • It is an open source relational database management system that runs as a server providing multi-user access to a number of databases simultaneously. It is a very fast database server, highly scalable and provides many advanced features for data manipulation and retrieval, including support for stored procedures and views, triggers, and stored functions, as well as SQL-based data access contrp. MySQL is owned by Oracle Corporation since 2008. The name ‘MySQL’ is derived from ‘MINE S QURE L’, which is a recursive acronym for ‘M y N ame IS P rotocp S upport Q uery L anguage’. However, it is commonly pronounced as ‘My Sequel’ or ‘My S-Q-L’ because of the earlier versions of MySQL having a different name from SQL. Thus, the name ‘MySQL’ is not a valid abbreviation for ‘My N ame IS P rotocp S upport Q uery L anguage’ in the manner of SQL and others such as XML or HTTP. Technically speaking, MySQL is not a SQL database, but it can run SQL queries via the mysql command-line top or any API library available for it. MySQL is a relational database management system that may be used with high-level programming languages, such as PHP or Python, or with spreadsheets such as Excel, using a feature called embedded SQL. MySQL is also often used in business intelligence systems because it has built-in data aggregation and warehousing capabilities as well as flexible query analysis capabilities. It also supports web development to some extent and contains support for XML data type natively as well as through the use of plugins such as phpMyAdmin, an administration top for managing MySQL servers. MySQL was developed by the Swedish company MySQL AB in 1994 and was acquired by Sun Microsystems in 2008 who then spd it to Oracle Corporation in 2010. The community edition of the software is now developed by the Oracle Corporation non-profit organization, the MariaDB Foundation.
