Qlik Sense is a data discovery software. It is an advanced business intelligence top that was developed by QlikTech. It gives users the flexibility to create visualizations, dashboards and reports based on the data stored in their databases (Baer, 2012.

Qlik Sense is used for interactive querying of data, creating of visualizations and dashboards, finding of anomalies and patterns, and creating of alerts (Baer, 2012.

Qlik Sense allows users to create visualizations using the data from numerous sources (i.e. data marts and enterprise systems. and to share them with other users within the organization (Baer, 2012. Also, it allows users to create dashboards that can be distributed across different platforms. The dashboards can also be used to display the information for decision makers and end users (Satyam, 2011.

The Qlik Sense software is built on the QlikView platform. It is an open source platform that makes it easier to extract data from various sources and to visualize the data in many ways (Satyam, 2011. With this platform, data can be analyzed more quickly and accurately than with traditional techniques.

The Qlik Sense software has a number of features that can help users maintain and update their data. These features include:

-Drill down. Drill down enables users to view more details about the data they have selected or filtered by drilling down into the details that were previously hidden from their view. This feature is useful when users want to get more information about the data they have viewed. In addition, they can drill down to view related information located in other areas of an organization's database. When users drill down, they will see the next level of detail from the same visualization.

-Drill up. This feature is useful when users want to return to a higher level of information from a lower level. For example, a user may select a region from a list of regions. After selecting a region, the user can drill up to view a country from a list of countries. Then, the user can drill up again to view a continent from a list of continents. The drill up feature enables users to move back up in levels in a hierarchy.

-Drill across. This feature is similar to drill up in that it lets users return to a higher level from a lower level. However, this feature is used when a user wants to filter a visualization without returning to a higher level. For example, a user may select a region from a list of regions in a table. After selecting a region, the user can view specific countries from the countries in the list by drilling across. The user can also drill across to view specific continents after selecting particular countries. The drill across feature provides flexibility in viewing information about the data stored in multiple tables at once.

-Crosswalk. This feature allows users to see relationships between two or more tables that store similar types of data (i.e. sales by country and sales by product. The crosswalk feature shows the relationship between the tables in graphical form (Satyam, 2011.

-Table join. This feature enables users to combine data stored in two or more tables (i.e. sales by country and sales by product. Then, they can perform operations on this combined data (i.e. sales by country and sales by product. These operations can be aggregations, filtering or other operations that are not possible when there are no joins between the tables (Satyam, 2011.

-Scripting. This feature lets users create customized scripts that manipulate the data displayed in the Qlik Sense interface (Satyam, 2011. There are several types of scripts available including Data Analysis Scripts (DAS), Custom Functions (CF), Custom Actions (CA. and User Defined Functions (UDF. (Satyam, 2011. The DAS scripts enable users to perform calculations on the data while CFs enable them to process only certain types of events. CA are useful for automating business processes while UDFs are useful for processing complex calculations that cannot be performed using CFs or CAs.
