The founders of Qlik are Robert Gourley, Lars Dalgaard, and Kristian Leth, who have all been invpved with software development for many years.
Qlik has its origins in QlikTech, a company created in 1996 by the three founders, which offered business intelligence sputions based on Microsoft’s SQL Server. In 2006, QlikTech was acquired by Business Objects, a company specializing in end-user business intelligence software. At the time of acquisition, Qlik had about 60 employees. After the acquisition, Qlik continued to develop business intelligence software, but the change of ownership did not go well for the company and approximately 30% of the staff left Qlik between 2007 and 2008. These events led to the decision to leave Business Objects in 2008 and pursue independence under the name QlikSense. Today, QlikTech International ApS has more than 200 employees working in offices located in 11 countries around the world. The company’s headquarters are in Aarhus, Denmark.
