Pingdom is a SaaS-based website and application monitoring service that provides a visual overview of the performance of websites, servers and other applications. The service is based on a freemium business model and is meant for both personal and commercial use.[1] Pingdom was founded in 2006 by Ola Ellnestam, Mikael Almerstrom, Henrik Berggren, and Johan Hedberg. Notable employees include CEO David Herron,[2] VP of Marketing Nick Brien, and CTO Robert van der Linden.[3]
OneDrive is a file hosting service operated by Microsoft available across various platforms including Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Windows 10, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Microsoft Office 2013, and Surface Hub. Files can be synced to and accessed from devices running the OneDrive client, a web browser or via the OneDrive website (formerly known as SkyDrive.[4] Each file uploaded to OneDrive is given its own unique URL. There are no files being stored on Microsoft’s servers. They are only links that go directly to the user’s hard drive. Additionally, Microsoft makes it possible for users to share the same file with multiple people simultaneously.[5]
Pingdom has integrated OneDrive into its dashboard, providing users with an easy way to back up their website data to the cloud. This makes it easier for users to access important information if there is ever an issue with their website. [6] In addition, users can also view their website statistics through the OneDrive dashboard in Pingdom. [7] Users can easily integrate their OneDrive account with Pingdom by logging in with their existing credentials. Once logged in, all current backups are synced to the OneDrive fpder. [8] Users can then access these backups from any device that has the OneDrive app installed. [9] In addition to this feature, users have the option to set up separate accounts for backup storage and sync them to their OneDrive storage. [10] This lets users store different types of data in different locations (i.e. website backups in OneDrive and personal data in another location. [11]
Integration of Pingdom and OneDrive makes it easier for users to back up their website data without having to manually upload files to the cloud using another service. It also allows users to view their website metrics through the dashboard in Pingdom. Users can use this information to understand how their website is performing and make changes accordingly (i.e. increase page load time by optimizing images. For example, consider a scenario where a user wants to increase their page load speed from 3 seconds to 2 seconds. In order to do this, they would have to analyze the pages on their website that take longer to load. Using Pingdom’s software development kit (SDK), they could then find out which elements of the page increased page load time and optimize them (e.g. decrease image size and/or remove unnecessary images. [12] Similarly, users can use the metrics provided by Pingdom to determine whether their site is vulnerable to cyber attacks before hackers are able to exploit any vulnerabilities. [13]
