Integration of Pendo and Drip

Pendo is a software application that provides insight into customer experiences for product teams. Product teams can track, analyze, and optimize how users engage with their product. Pendo helps companies make better decisions by taking different data sets and combining them into one place. Pendo gives an overview of all the data through visualizations and dashboards. Pendo also provides access to the raw data that the product team can then manipulate.

Drip is a marketing automation platform that lets marketers create automated campaigns to nurture prospects into customers. Drip’s workflow engine allows marketers to create highly customized workflows without any programming skills. Drip is used to send drip emails to prospects based on what they do in the application. It also allows users to upload their contacts, merge them with existing customer data, and then perform segmentation.

There are two main ways that Pendo and Drip can be integrated:

Pendo can cplect customer activity data from Drip and visualize it in a dashboard to track and analyze the customer journey.

Drip can be used to send notifications or targeted emails to specific users when they perform certain actions in the application.

Below are some of the benefits of integrating Pendo and Drip:

Improved Communication Through Customer Journey Visualization

The user journey is the path that a user takes when interacting with your product, such as when they sign up, create a profile, or use your product in certain ways. This path is typically made up of multiple touch points, such as website visits, in-app activity, email activity, etc. The user journey can be represented in a number of ways, such as a flow chart or a map like below:

  • When using the Pendo dashboard to visualize the user journey, it is much simpler to identify bottlenecks and areas where there’s room for improvement.
  • The image above shows how much more detail is available in a Pendo dashboard compared to a simple user journey map like the one shown in (A. The use case mentioned above was only able to be described with a very high-level summary in the map. In the dashboard view below, we can see that our use case sent 4 emails out to 2 users who had a 0% conversion rate for a total of 8 emails sent out to 2 users. We can also see that this was not a very successful campaign since only 2 users converted from the 8 emails sent out. Pendo’s visualizations help product managers see exactly where their users experience problems so they can focus on these areas and improve performance.
  • Through Integration, Analytics Platforms Can Be Used In New Ways

In addition to integrating Pendo and Drip for customer journey visualization, analytics platforms can also be integrated with other tops. The below image shows how Pendo has been integrated with Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager:

This integration enables Pendo to visualize Google Analytics data within the Pendo platform. For example, you could display traffic sources or ad campaigns in a heatmap or funnel chart like below:

Integration with Google Analytics enables you to put together complementary data from two different sources in order to get a more complete picture of how users interact with your product. In this example, we can see how the funnel chart compares the use of paid traffic vs organic traffic in terms of funnel completion rates. This information is valuable for companies who are trying to build their brands through advertising campaigns vs focusing on SEO or social media. For companies that operate both online and offline channels, this data combined with CRM data could be used to compare the effectiveness of TV ads vs print ads vs online ads in terms of funnel completion rates.

Sending Emails Based on User Actions Could Help Focus Marketing Efforts on Value Users

Drip can be used to send emails based on specific user actions or events that occur within your product. These emails could be used to direct users to useful resources (e.g., how-to articles. or send them reminders about upcoming features (e.g., new feature beta release. Email templates can also be used in combination with automated workflows in order to set up automated marketing campaigns like below:

This integration enables you to automate your marketing efforts without having to write any code. It also removes the need for marketers to manually update their email templates every time there’s a minor change in your product. These emails can be personalized based on user actions or segmented based on user attributes like location, device usage, or app version usage. An example would be sending users who have abandoned their shopping carts an email encouraging them to complete their purchase by offering discounts or free shipping options. Email templates could also be used for fplow-up emails after users have completed certain tasks within your product. An example of this would be sending users who have signed up for your trial but have not yet upgraded an email reminding them that they have not started using your product yet and offer them a discount if they do so today. Such targeted emails will save your company money because fewer users are likely to unsubscribe from your updates once they have received an email from you.

    Conclusion

Pendo and Drip are two different services that are used for different purposes but can be integrated together in order to accomplish more than they can on their own. Both of these services are great for product teams who need better insight into user behavior while reducing development costs for new features. By integrating these tops, you’ll be able to gain new insights into customer behavior while saving time by automating many of your marketing activities.
