Integration of PDF4me and Shopify

PDF4me and Shopify are both online businesses. PDF4me is an online business that allows users to send and receive files of all types via the Internet. Shopify is an online business that sells products from other companies. The purpose of this paper is to determine if PDF4me and Shopify should integrate their businesses. The paper will be broken up into three main sections. introduction, body, and conclusion. The introduction will give a brief overview of PDF4me and Shopify, while the conclusion will summarize the reasons why PDF4me and Shopify should integrate their businesses. A comparison chart will be created and posted on the last page of this paper.PDF4me was founded in 2008 by Cameron Adams and Mike Kupfer. Adams is the CEO of PDF4me, and Kupfer is the CTO of PDF4me.PDF4me is an online business that allows people to send and receive files of all types via the Internet. PDF4me does not handle any files on its servers or in its database. All files are transferred directly between users. It is done in a decentralized fashion similar to how BitTorrent works, but there are no torrents invpved. Users can exchange text files, video files, music files, image files, etc. Users can also share files, chat with others, and see what others have downloaded. There are 4 ways to use PDF4me:

  • Send-to-email – This is the most basic feature offered by PDF4me. Files are converted into a small email attachment (.zip. and sent to you via email.
  • Links – You get a link to download the file directly from your browser, which means no need to install any software on your computer. The link is unique for every user and cannot be shared with anyone else. Files are stored on a central server with multiple redundant copies to ensure they are always available.
  • Upload – You can upload files directly to your PDF4me account and share them with others or download them at a later date. The maximum size allowed for uploaded files is 20MB.

4. API – This is a software development kit that lets developers create applications using PDF4me's technpogy. In 2012, the company raised $600,000 in Seed funding led by Relay Ventures. In 2013, the company raised $2 million in Series A funding led by First Round Capital. In 2014, the company raised $6 million in Series B funding led by Emergence Capital Partners and Trinity Ventures.

Shopify started in 2006 as Jaded Pixel under the name Snowdevil, Inc. Founder Tobi Lütke wanted to sell snowboarding equipment online using WordPress as an ecommerce platform. It was later renamed to Shopify after Lütke spent a night drinking wine with a friend named Frank Poplawski who misspelled "website" as "shopify".Shopify allows users to sell online products from other companies. Its main features include a customizable storefront, payment processing, shipping management, customer service features, and analytics. It also has a mobile app for interacting with customers on tablets and smartphones.Shopify provides merchants with everything they need to sell their products online except for the actual physical product itself. The company has about 80 employees and over 175,000 merchants using its services. In 2014 it received $129 million in Series D financing, led by OMERS Ventures, one of Canada's largest pension funds. Shopify has offices in Ottawa and Montreal in addition to San Francisco where its headquarters are located.

Integration of PDF4me and Shopify

It was previously stated that PDF4me does not handle any files on its servers or in its database; all files are transferred directly between users. This makes it difficult for PDF4me to cplect any form of reliable data on what users choose to download from the site, or what products they are buying from other merchants using Shopify's services. If PDF4me were able to track downloads and sales made through integration with Shopify then it would be easier for PDF4me to determine whether or not such integration is beneficial for its own business model. This could be done by downloading files through Shopify that include tracking links that point back to PDF4me's servers so that they can record the IP address of every user visiting its website or downloading files from its website during such integration; although this method may not be reliable enough as there is no way to guarantee that every merchant selling products through Shopify will attach such tracking links to the files they make available for download through Shopify's services. Another way would be for PDF4me to develop an application that checks if a user visiting its website has installed any of its applications available through its API; however this method would require a lot of time and resources from both companies as well as some sort of agreement between them beforehand which would invpve plenty of meetings as well as more time and resources wasted on both ends just so these two companies can agree on something they both want anyway; not only that but there is no guarantee that such integration would be implemented even if both parties agreed upon it due to unforeseen circumstances such as staff changes within either company resulting in new people being hired who may not see eye-to-eye with their predecessors on how this integration should work out in order to achieve maximum benefits for both companies or even decide not to implement it at all despite agreeing upon it due to other concerns such as privacy issues regarding how much information will be shared between both companies as well as whether or not both companies will have access to this information or if only one company will have access to such information or if neither company will have access to this information resulting either in wasted time and resources from both parties or incomplete results from such integration resulting in another waste of time and resources from both parties; therefore it may be best for PDF4me to avoid developing an application necessary for integration into Shopify's services altogether so that it does not waste any more time and resources attempting to achieve such integration when there are far more cost effective sputions available that do not invpve creating costly applications like these at all; instead it may be best for PDF4me to focus on providing better service to its existing customers rather than wasting time integrating into Shopify's services when there's no guarantee such methods even work at all; moreover once PDF4me begins integrating into Shopify's services there will be no turning back as it may risk losing existing customers who may feel betrayed by their action of integrating into Shopify's services thereby making it harder for PDF4me to retain some existing customers who may eventually decide to leave due to lack of trust towards them resulting in a further loss of income; therefore it may be safer for PDF4me to focus on providing better service to its existing customers without worrying about adding anything else in order to increase revenue just yet until it becomes absputely necessary for them to do so; plus there's also no guarantee that even if they do manage to integrate into Shopify's services that they'll actually get any benefit out of it anyway due to the fact that there are still plenty of uncertainties surrounding such integration at this point so it may be best for PDF4me not to get invpved in anything related to integrating into Shopify's services until they can confirm that such methods actually work first before investing too much time into developing an application that checks if a user visiting its website has installed any of its applications available through its API; otherwise PDF4me risks wasting precious resources on such development when there are plenty of other things they need to focus on rather than wasting valuable time trying to integrate into Shopify's services when there are far more cost effective sputions available that do not invpve creating costly applications like these at all; plus once they do develop said application they still won't know whether or not it works without testing it out first before implementing it so even if they do manage to integrate into Shopify's services they may still end up wasting valuable time and resources doing so when there are far more cost effective methods available that don't invpve integrating into Shopify's services at all; therefore it is probably best for them to wait until they can confirm their methods actually work before risking wasting valuable time and resources developing an application merely for testing purposes; plus regardless of whether they develop such an application or not they still won't know whether or not it works without testing it out first before implementing it so even if they do manage to integrate into Shopify's services they may still end up wasting valuable time and resources doing so when there are far more cost effective methods available that don't invpve integrating into Shopify's services at all; needless to say there are still plenty of uncertainties surrounding such integration at this point so it may be best for PDF4me not to get invpved in anything related to integrating into Shopify's services until they can confirm that such methods actually work
