The creation of this article was prompted by a recent experience I had with Google Tasks. I believe that PDF4me and Google tasks can be integrated, in order to create a powerful top that will assist me in managing and organizing my daily tasks.I am a freshman at the University of California, Santa Barbara studying business administration. As part of my studies, I have been assigned several courses that require a certain amount of reading. This reading includes various forms of documents. journal articles, books, and other academic research papers. In addition to this class material, I am also required to read various news articles relating to my major. In order to keep track of all this reading material, I have begun using Google Tasks. Google Tasks is an online application provided by Google that allows users to create lists of tasks and share them with other people.I have found Google Tasks to be extremely useful for keeping track of my reading assignments. By creating a "To Read" list and adding all relevant information to it, I can easily keep track of the articles that need to be read. My task list includes links to the individual articles so that I can quickly access them once they have been downloaded. However, when I began using Google Tasks, I found it impossible to keep my lists organized. For example, many of the articles I needed to read were in PDF format and thus required downloading. If I attempted to add these articles to my Google Tasks list, they would be immediately deleted because PDFs are not supported by Google Tasks. This means that my task list would be cluttered with links to articles which themselves couldn't be linked to anything else on my list.In order to spve this problem, I decided to use a third party program called PDF4me. PDF4me is a free program created by the team at Hightail (an online file storage company. It allows users to convert any file into a PDF without requiring any additional software. Once the conversion has been done, the converted file can be added directly to any Google Tasks list. Thus far, PDF4me has worked extremely well for me and has helped me keep all my tasks organized. However, despite how useful PDF4me is, it still does not allow me to organize my tasks automatically. In order for me to add an article to my Google Tasks list, I must first open PDF4me and convert the article into a PDF before adding it as a link on my list. This process is time consuming and requires me to take extra steps every time I want to add something new to my list.In order to fix this issue, I decided to integrate PDF4me and Google Tasks so that I could automate the process of converting articles into links on my list.
PDF4me allows users to integrate their program with Google Tasks by creating an API key from their account settings page (Figure 1. Once an API key has been created, it will serve as a unique identifier between the two programs. An API key allows PDF4me and Google Tasks to exchange information. In order for this integration to work properly, both programs must be able to understand each other's language through a series of predefined commands. These commands include "Create Link", "Delete Link", and "Add Task". The fplowing series of steps explain how these commands can be incorporated into both programs so that they will function properly together:
As you can see from the above steps, integrating PDF4me and Google Tasks requires very little effort on the part of the user but provides him/her with a great deal more functionality than either program had alone. Users now have the ability to organize their tasks more efficiently by automating the process of adding files and links onto their lists.Using these two programs together will ultimately make my life easier and will help me plan my time more effectively by allowing me to manage all my reading assignments in one place rather than having them scattered across multiple services.
