Patreon is a crowdfunding site that allows users to fund creators they want to see more of. The money comes from monthly donations from the users. These donations are optional, and there is no specific goal to meet in order to receive the money. The creators set up their own reward tiers for whatever pledge amounts users choose.
Google Docs is an online word processing program that allows users to cplaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Users can also use Google Docs to create blogs and websites.
Google Docs has a function called “Comments” that allows users to leave notes on specific sections of the document. Normally, these comments are only visible to the original creator of the document. However, the creator can choose to make them available to the public or only to certain groups. With the integration of Patreon, this new feature would allow users to comment on sections of a Google Doc with the username of their Patreon account. This way, other users could see how much they donated toward a certain creator’s project without having to go to Patreon themselves. It would be a simple way to show support for creators without having to make another account or sign up for another service. It may also be an easy way for creators to know who their biggest supporters are. If one person is donating five dplars every month, it may be hard to tell whether that is significant or not; however, if it’s written directly on a creator’s Google Doc, it will be clear that at least one person is putting a lot of time and effort into supporting their work. It would also make it easier for podcasters like me to keep track of which patrons listen to my podcast. For example, if someone listens to my podcast through my website on Patreon, I could go to Google Docs, check the comments section, and see that xyz123 has listened to episode 5 three times and episode 2 twice. This would make it easier for me to get an idea of what episodes people really like so I can make better content in the future. It would also help me know which patrons support me the most so I can encourage those individuals specifically to donate more so they get added rewards like appearing on my podcast or being mentioned in a thank you video.
This new feature would benefit both creators and patrons. Creators would have an easy way to see who supports them without having to go through another website or app. Patrons would have an easy way to find out who’s supporting the creators they enjoy without having to go through another website or app. This feature would also benefit podcasters and bloggers because listeners and readers could easily find out which creators are supported by the people they already fplow. Another benefit is that this new feature would help creators and patrons grow their network of supporters by showing off their work and allowing other people to suggest them to others as well. This feature would also incentivize patrons to spend more time on a creator’s page since they would be able to learn about other projects from that same creator. This feature would also be beneficial for podcasters like me because listeners could see other podcasts they listen to, thus encouraging them to listen more often and giving me more sources of information and topics for future podcasts.
