Integration of PagerDuty and Google Contacts

In this article, I will be describing the integration of PagerDuty and Google Contacts. I will begin with a brief description of what each product is. Then I will discuss how they are integrated into one system. Finally, the benefits of integrating the two apps will be discussed.

PagerDuty is a service to help you respond to incidents known as paging. It allows you to create different types of pages and assign them to different people or teams within your company. The possibilities for this app are endless. You can have a page for an infrastructure issue, a security breach, a software issue, etc. PagerDuty will allow you to send out alerts based on triggers from other services such as GitHub, Slack, Nagios, etc. It also allows you to be as specific as possible as to who receives the page via tags and filters. In addition, it has a great UI and a slick design.

Google Contacts is a service that allows you to store contact information in a database managed by Google. The point of this database is to make it easy to group contacts together by organization or project. If you have a lot of contacts and you need to organize them by project or company, Google Contacts is perfect for the job.

How can these two services be integrated Well, let’s take the example of an infrastructure incident. Using PagerDuty you could set up an incident trigger, which is something like an error threshpd for CPU usage of more than 80% over the course of 30 minutes. Let’s say that threshpd is reached and an engineer needs to be paged about it. They would receive an alert on their phone saying that the trigger has been reached. Once the engineer gets back to their computer they can check on which contacts were also paged about the incident by clicking on the contacts tab on PagerDuty’s website. On the contacts tab, they would see all the groups of people who were affected by the alert. This saves you time because you don’t have to go hunting through email threads hoping someone said something about an incident; you can simply click on the contact tab and see exactly who was paged about that incident.

There are many benefits to combining these two services into one system. By integrating PagerDuty and Google Contacts, it makes it easier for engineers to know who was impacted by an alert, thus saving them time when dealing with an incident. This is just one way that integrating these two services is beneficial. There are many other ways that they can be used together to enhance your productivity.

The process to integrate PagerDuty and Google Contacts may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
