Integration of OpsGenie and Google Tasks

OpsGenie

OpsGenie is an alert and notification management service with integration to over 40 popular products. It is used by enterprises, IT service providers, and small businesses to manage operational communication in the cloud.

Google Tasks

Google Tasks is a task manager powered by Google. It offers users a way to keep track of everything you need to get done by creating lists of things that need to be done. You can share your tasks with others, set reminders for yourself, and sync your tasks across devices.

Integration of OpsGenie and Google Tasks

OpsGenie’s Google Cloud Integration enables you to get notified whenever a new task is created in Google Tasks. It provides you with the option to set up alerts on each task based on its priority or due date. You can also integrate with your existing workflows in OpsGenie to automate actions automatically on these tasks.

To get started, fplow the steps below:

  • Create a new integration in OpsGenie with Google Tasks as the trigger source. Click here for detailed instructions.
  • Once you have created the integration, it will ask you to authorize OpsGenie to access your Google Tasks account. Click “Allow” on the dialog box displayed on the screen after this step. It will take some time before you are able to see any tasks in OpsGenie. This depends on the number of tasks you have in Google Tasks. To check if your integration is successful, go to Settings > Integrations page in OpsGenie and click the “Google Tasks” integration link. If it shows “Google Tasks” under “My Integrations” then it has been successfully integrated with your Google Tasks account.
  • Add Alerts to tasks using Tags or Filters. See instructions here.
  • Set up Notifications for OpsGenie alerts using SMS or Voice calls or Emails or Webhooks or Chat messages. See instructions here.
  • Let’s assume that you want to receive notifications for tasks having the tag “High-Priority” or tag “Urgent” or tag “Critical” or tag “Time-Bound” or tag “Scheduled” or tag “Due-Today” or tag “Due-Tomorrow” or tag “Due-Later” or tag “Notification-Required” attached to them. Now, create an alert in OpsGenie by clicking on the “Create Alert” tab below the graph on the “Alerts” page of OpsGenie. Enter the details of the alert as shown in the image below:
  • After creating the alert, you will be able to see it on the “Alerts” page of OpsGenie. Here you can review all your alerts, edit them, delete them, etc. Fplow these instructions for further details about managing alerts in OpsGenie. You can now go back to the “Integrations” page of OpsGenie and click on the “Google Tasks” integration link to confirm which tasks are now being monitored by OpsGenie.
  • Next, you can create any workflow that can be triggered when a new alert is created based on the tag(s. that you mentioned above (in step 5. For example, let’s say you want to create a Google Tasks workflow whenever an alert with tags “High-Priority” or tag “Urgent” or tag “Critical” or tag “Time-Bound” or tag “Scheduled” or tag “Due-Today” or tag “Due-Tomorrow” or tag “Due-Later” or tag “Notification-Required” attached to them is created in OpsGenie.
