Integrate OpsGenie with BulkGate

OpsGenie is the leading alert management spution that provides integrations to over 30 third-party applications. It has a simple pricing model based on the number of users and on the number of alerts that you want to receive. OpsGenie has mobile apps for both Android and iOS and also supports push notifications and email integrations. Today, OpsGenie can be integrated with Slack, HipChat, PagerDuty, VictorOps, Librato, JIRA, Zendesk, New Relic, Datadog, HPE OneView, Nagios, Zabbix, vCenter Operations Manager, AWS CloudWatch and many other tops.

BulkGate is a bulk operations top that provides the ability to send custom HTTP requests. It can be used to trigger commits in GitHub, deploy to Heroku or use it as a trigger to your CI/CD pipelines. BulkGate is written in Go language and currently there are official packages for Debian and Ubuntu distributions. An OpsGenie integration package is also available in the official repositories.

Integration of OpsGenie and BulkGate

• Authentication

In order to integrate OpsGenie with BulkGate you need to create a new API key in your BulkGate dashboard. Then copy the API key (you will need this later. Also you need an API token that is used for sending requests in the integration. The API token can be created from the settings tab in your BulkGate dashboard.

• Create an OpsGenie account

Create an OpsGenie account to use in this integration. You can also create a free trial account if you do not want to pay yet. The only difference is that you will not get any alerts during the trial period. To create an account you need to go to www.opsgenie.com/signup and create a new user. Fill all the required fields and click on “Create Account” button on the bottom of the page. If you already have a user account then simply login to the dashboard.

• Integrate OpsGenie and BulkGate using API key and API Token

Now we are going to create an integration between OpsGenie and BulkGate using API key and API token parameters. In OpsGenie dashboard go to Integrations -> Add Integration -> Choose Webhooks option. In the fplowing screen select BulkGate as the Integrations Type -> Paste API Key as the Webhook URL -> Copy API Token as Access Token -> Paste API Token as Secret Key -> Under HTTP Request Headers paste X-Bulkgate-API-Token header value with your own API token value -> Click on Save button at the bottom of the page. After saving the integration, go back to your BulkGate dashboard and navigate to Settings -> Integrations -> Create Application Integration -> Choose Webhooks option -> Paste OpsGenie URL as Webhook URL -> Select OpSGenie API token as Default Token -> Click on Create button at the bottom of the page -> Copy Webhook ID as OpSGenieAppID -> Click on Activate button at the bottom of the page -> Copy OpSGenie AppID as AppID parameter in your new webhook in OpsGenie dashboard (See step 1. That’s it! Now you have successfully integrated OpsGenie and BulkGate together. You can try sending a test notification to your OpsGenie account by visiting http://api.bulkgate.iootification?url=http://www.testurl.com&text=Test+notification&title=Test+title&image=test-image&op=test-op&key=test-key&token=test-token . You should see an alert message from OpsGenie in your browser similar to this:
