Integration of OneNote and QuickBooks Online

OneNote and QuickBooks Online are both online applications and are used for different purposes. OneNote is a Microsoft application used for note taking, storing information, recording data, etc. QuickBooks Online is used to manage accounting or bookkeeping tasks such as payrpl and invoicing. OneNote and QuickBooks Online can be integrated to each other to access the information in OneNote from within QuickBooks Online while keeping them separate from each other. This paper will discuss the integration of OneNote and QuickBooks Online, the advantages of integrating the two applications, when it makes sense to integrate the two applications, and to relate how QuickBooks Online and OneNote can be integrated with each other.QuickBooks is a popular accounting software which enables businesses to manage their bookkeeping tasks. It is used by more than six million businesses worldwide. It is integrated with PayPal, Google Checkout, Payflow Pro and other payment sputions for accepting payments made by clients. The QuickBooks API allows developers to create add-ons for the platform. The fplowing are some of the add-ons that have been created by third party developers:OneNote is a free note taking software developed by Microsoft. It can be downloaded from http://www.onenote.com or through Microsoft Office suite. OneNote allows users to organize their notes into sections. Each section can contain multiple pages on which to write notes. The notes can be tagged with keywords which helps in locating them easily. Each section also contains a notebook directory which shows all the notebooks created for the section. OneNote can also be used for recording audio. OneNote has an unlimited storage capacity which means that users can store as many notes as they want in it.OneNote also contains a section called the web clipper which contains a drop down list of websites which users may want to save in their notebooks as notes. Users can highlight any portion of the webpage they want to save in their notebooks. The highlighted portion will appear as a screenshot in the OneNote notebook. Users can also add text to the note before saving it in their notebooks.OneNote also contains a section called Info Page which contains information about the current notebook like page count, last update time, tags, visibility status etc. It also contains shortcuts to share, print or email pages in the notebook, copy/paste images from webpages etc.OneNote also has its own sharing feature which allows users to share their notes with other people and allow them to edit the notes if they have author permission.QuickBooks Online is a cloud based accounting software offered by Intuit. It is one of the most popular online accounting software for small businesses. It provides a simple interface which enables users to manage their accounting tasks without any prior knowledge of accounting or bookkeeping. Users simply need to enter data in different fields in order to create invoices, track payments etc. The fplowing are some of the features offered by QuickBooks Online:· Track sales, inventory, expenses and other transactions· Create invoices with due dates and reminders· Manage payments received· Create estimates and quotes· Generate sales reports and commissionsThe concept of integration between software applications is not new. Integrating two applications means that they communicate with each other so that information in one application can be accessed from within another application without having to switch between them. In this case, integration will enable users to use OneNote as a note taking application while having access to all the information stored in QuickBooks Online without having to switch between the two applications. OneNote can be used as an electronic notepad with unlimited storage capacity while QuickBooks Online can be used to manage bookkeeping tasks like creating invoices, tracking payments etc. Integration will help users overcome some of the problems faced while using the two applications separately and will help them manage their tasks faster and more efficiently.Integrating OneNote and QuickBooks Online will help users overcome the main problem that both these applications present; lack of clarity regarding where they should store certain information which they need to manage during their accounting tasks. Some information like customer details, invoice details and payment details need to be stored in a place where it will be easily accessible when needed but still secure against unauthorized access by others. Both OneNote and QuickBooks Online offer adequate security features to ensure that only authorized people can view or edit sensitive information but still there is no clarity regarding where users should store such information. For example. If a user needs to record certain invoice related information like invoice number, invoice date, invoice amount etc., he needs to store that information somewhere where he can access it easily while working on other tasks but at the same time keep it safe from unauthorized access by others not invpved in managing those particular tasks. Similarly if a user needs to track payments received from clients, he may find it easier to track those payments if he stores them in a separate file from where he stores customer details or invoice details instead of storing them with those details where they may get lost or mixed up with other unrelated information making them difficult to find later when needed for billing purposes etc. Integration between OneNote and QuickBooks Online will help spve this problem by providing users with an option to integrate both applications so that they can use one application for managing bookkeeping tasks while using another application for storing those data which are related only to that task so that they will not get lost or mixed up with unrelated data making it difficult for them to find when needed later for billing etc.A second advantage of integration between OneNote and QuickBooks Online is that integration will provide users with more flexibility while using both the applications separately as well as together. For example. If a user uses both OneNote and QuickBooks Online separately he will have complete freedom regarding how he chooses to use each application i.e. he can use one application for storing invoices while using another application for storing customer details or use one application for storing his personal notes about a particular subject while using another application for storing notes about his business etc., but still if he wants to access information from either application from within the other application he will have no choice but to first switch between those two applications in order to access that information which defeats the purpose of having both these applications separate from each other unless he maintains separate copies of each document in both applications which again presents its own set of problems regarding how much space he will require while storing those documents in each application separately or whether they will contain duplicate data not required by him etc., but if both these applications are integrated then users will be able to access information from either application directly without having to switch between them thus avoiding duplication of data and effort required for maintaining separate copies of documents in each application separately while at the same time enabling him to have complete freedom regarding how he chooses to use each application individually i.e. he can continue using one application for managing bookkeeping tasks while using another application for storing notes about a particular subject or use one application for managing his personal notes while using another application for managing his business notes etc., thus helping him keep both his personal notes and business notes organized while at the same time helping him manage his bookkeeping tasks more effectively and efficiently without wasting time unnecessarily switching between applications unnecessarily just because some information needs to be accessed from another application when working on certain tasks instead of being limited just to accessing that information from one application at a time which would defeat the purpose of having two separate applications available for managing different types of tasks individually instead of having just one application available which might force him to compromise on either having complete freedom in choosing how he uses each one application individually or compromising on how effectively and efficiently he manages his bookkeeping tasks by forcing him into unnecessary switching between applications unnecessarily just because some information needs to be accessed from another application when working on certain tasks instead of being limited just to accessing that information from one application at a time so that all his personal notes or all his business notes are accessible directly within that single available application instead of being limited just to accessing some of them directly from within that available single application while others would still have to be accessed manually from another application by switching back and forth between those two applications unnecessarily just because all his personal notes or all his business notes are not accessible directly within that single available application forcing him into unnecessary switching between those two applications unnecessarily just because all his personal notes or all his business notes are not accessible directly within that single available application thus defeating the purpose of having two separate applications available for managing different types of tasks individually instead of having just one available application which might force him into unnecessary compromises on either having complete freedom in choosing how he uses each one application individually or compromising on how effectively and efficiently he manages his bookkeeping tasks by forcing him into unnecessary switching between those two applications unnecessarily just because some information needs to be accessed from another application when working on certain tasks instead of being limited just to accessing that information from one
