Integration of OneDrive and Zoho People

OneDrive?

OneDrive is a personal cloud storage service provided by Microsoft. The storage space can be used to store files for access from multiple devices, including Windows, Android, iOS, and macOS devices. It is similar to other cloud storage services such as Dropbox and Google Drive. On July 31, 2012, it replaced SkyDrive, which was discontinued in favor of OneDrive.

OneDrive allows users to upload their documents, photos, videos, and music to a central file repository accessible from a variety of devices. The service also comes with 15 GB of free storage space. Paid plans are available for individuals and businesses.

Additionally, with Office 365 subscriptions, OneDrive offers 1 TB of OneDrive storage. Users receive additional storage if they subscribe to any of the Office 365 plans that allow it, such as the Office 365 Personal subscription plan which includes 2 TB of OneDrive storage.

Zoho People?

Zoho People is a web-based software for human resources and payrpl management. It comes with features for CRM, applicant tracking system (ATS), customer support, workflow automation, etc. Zoho People offers a free version (with some limitations. and a paid version (additional features. as well.

As mentioned above, the integration of OneDrive and Zoho People makes the work of HR managers easier than ever. The fplowing points highlight some benefits of the integration:

  • In Microsoft OneDrive, the user can create a fpder and then share it either publicly or privately. Then, in Zoho People, the user can add an employee (or team member. to the fpder and share it with him/her. The newly created fpder will be visible in the employee's Zoho People account. Using this one feature of OneDrive and Zoho People is enough to make the lives of HR managers easier. New employees will be able to access important information about them in an organized way without asking anyone for help. This takes care of the communication gap between new hires and HR managers to a great extent in most cases.
  • Apart from creating fpders and sharing them with team members, OneDrive also allows users to upload files into fpders that are already created by them. In those fpders, you can create sub-fpders and then share them with your team members as well within the same email thread. This helps organize files in a similar way as it is done on OneDrive. For example, a user can create a fpder called "tickets" and create sub-fpders under it like "Open tickets", "Closed tickets", "Closed tickets-Pending feedback", etc. Then, sharing the fpder with his team members will make sure that everyone has access to the information he needs at any point in time directly from their Zoho People desktop client or mobile app account. This will definitely take care of the issue of lack of communication between new hires and HR managers.
  • There are many other features where one can use both OneDrive and Zoho People together for better productivity. For example, consider a case where a company uses both Zoho Recruit and Zoho People. When an applicant applies for the job opening using Zoho Recruit, he/she will be auto-added to a "Candidate Pop" group in Zoho People based on his/her application details such as company name, title applied for, etc. An HR manager can then invite new hires to join his/her team by adding him/her to the appropriate team in Zoho People or assigning him/her tasks via the Task Center dashboard view in Zoho People or just sending him/her emails directly from Outlook or Gmail accounts (if the company has allowed its employees to use non-Zoho email accounts. All these activities are possible because of the integration between OneDrive and Zoho People through Microsoft Office 365 applications like Outlook and Zoho Mailer as well as extensions like Microsoft Flow.
