As a millennial, I have quickly become reliant on my smartphone. I use it for everything, from banking to ordering food, and I also use it for entertainment. As a result, I spend an average of three hours a day on my phone, which is about five times the time spent by people of my parents’ generation. With the number of smartphones in United States at over 300 million, this statistic does not come as a surprise. According to data from Statista, the global market of mobile phones is expected to grow from $460 billion in 2016 to $1 trillion by 2020. Mobile phone users are also expected to grow from 5.5 billion in 2017 to 6.9 billion in 2020.
Due to the growth in this market, it makes sense for companies like OnceHub and Device Magic to partner up so that they can capitalize on the growing need for mobile phones. When a company develops a product or service that is accompanied by another product or service, it is known as an ecosystem. An ecosystem is a network of interdependent species and ecosystems that interact with one another. In the case of OnceHub and Device Magic, they are two separate companies that offer their own products and services, but because they share a common customer base (mobile phone users), their integration will ultimately benefit them both.
The first step for the integration of OnceHub and Device Magic is for OnceHub to develop the ability to capture audio from a device’s camera. Once this feature has been developed, AfterShip, a shipping app owned by OnceHub, will be able to integrate it into its product. This will allow AfterShip’s customers to take pictures of package labels and then record audio notes while they talk about their packages. Once these recordings are complete, they will be stored in OnceHub’s servers so that they can be easily accessed through the OnceHub App.
For the second step, a team will be created at Device Magic that works with AfterShip’s technical team to integrate Device Magic’s software into the AfterShip platform. The Device Magic software will allow AfterShip’s customers to access their recordings through their smartphones instead of through the OnceHub app. It will also allow customers to add notes on top of their recordings, which will be stored in Device Magic’s servers rather than OnceHub’s servers. In the future, once OnceHub integrates the ability for its users to upload video files onto its platform, Device Magic will begin working with AfterShip’s team to allow customers to upload videos to their devices through the AfterShip app. All of these integrations will be designed so that users can easily access their recordings and videos without having to download different apps. They would just need one app that works across all platforms.
OnceHub and Device Magic will benefit from this integration because tech-savvy millennials are becoming more dependent on their smartphones and recording devices to document every aspect of their lives. Recording and sharing their experiences is a viral trend that is likely to increase with time and so OnceHub and Device Magic will benefit greatly if they can find ways to capitalize on this new trend before their competitors do. Millennial consumers are also notoriously price conscious, meaning they want the best deal possible, which is why this integration makes sense for both companies. It will allow them to expand their customer base by allowing them to reach multiple demographics across different regions at different price points. One way that OnceHub and Device Magic might be able to market themselves is through partnerships with Apple and Google. If these companies were willing to partner with either company, it could generate additional revenue for both companies as well as increased brand recognition among millennials who are already reliant on Apple and Google products.
