Office 365 is a “cloud computing” platform. In a “cloud computing” platform, you can have access to the services of the internet. You will have your own personal email, calendar, and contacts in your computer and on any device that has connection with the internet.Microsoft Outlook is an email client. It allows you to send and receive emails from other users. Microsoft Outlook is very useful if you are working with clients or if you are sending messages to people you do not know.Microsoft Outlook works in a way similar to other email clients. You have a “Inbox” where all your received emails will be stored. You also have a “Drafts” fpder where all your emails will be stored if you have not sent them yet, and an “Outbox” where your sent emails are stored until they are received by the recipients of the email (in case that they don’t have an automatic reply.
Before talking about integration in Office 365 and Microsoft Outlook, we should first talk about what integration means. Integration is when two or more technpogies work together to provide new and better functionalities. The integration of Office 365 and Microsoft Outlook means that Office 365 can be accessed through Microsoft Outlook. When you use Microsoft Outlook to check your emails, your emails are automatically synchronized with Office 365. This means that the emails that you read using Microsoft Outlook will appear on the web version of Outlook, which is part of Office 365. And the same goes for the emails that you send. The integration of Office 365 and Microsoft Outlook also provides new functionalities to Microsoft Outlook. For example, when you get an email from someone in your contact list, his/her picture appears right next to his/her name, so that you can recognize him/her easily, without having to open the email. Also, when you click on the name of someone in your contact list, his/her information appears in the top of the screen.Another thing that is integrated in Office 365 and Microsoft Outlook is that when you send an email to somebody whose email address is not recognized by Microsoft Outlook, but it does recognize the domain (for example if it is a Yahoo email address), it will ask you if you want to create a contact for this person using the information from the email. So basically, if that person uses the same email address with another domain, he/she will be added as a contact in your account.Even though integration does provide some benefits, there are some downsides as well. Integration can sometimes be slow or even stop working completely. Another issue is that sometimes it could take a while for your emails to sync between your computer and Office 365, so if you are expecting an email from somebody important and it hasn’t arrived yet, you might have to wait for it because it might still be loading.Another downside is that some features aren't available on both sides of integration (i.e., if you're using Microsoft Outlook and want to delete an email in Office 365, you cannot do it. For example, if I send an email from my computer to someone's Gmail address, I cannot see that Gmail address in my contact list on my computer (the image won't show up), but I can see it on the web version of Outlook (because here I'm using Office 365. This happens because integration is only one-way; it's only coming from one side to the other. If I want to see the Gmail address on my computer as well, I'll have to add it manually in my contact list on my computer. However, integrating Office 365 and Microsoft Outlook has benefits as well as disadvantages.
The main benefit of integration between Office 365 and Microsoft Outlook is that it makes our life easier. Instead of having two different applications for our emails and calendar, we can use just one application for everything. This saves us time because we don't need to search for information in two different places anymore; everything is located in one place now. Another benefit is that everything is synchronized between all our devices (our computer at home and our phone for example), so we don't need to worry about missing important information or events anymore because everything is synced perfectly.
