Integration of Odoo CRM and FuseDesk

Odoo is an open source and free suite of business management applications. FuseDesk is a cloud-based service for managing software development projects and has a strong focus on agile methodpogies. Both Odoo and FuseDesk are used by the world’s leading brands such as Airbus, BASF, BMW, Coca-Cpa, Dell, Ford, Nokia, Siemens and Toyota.

This article will examine the process of integrating Odoo and FuseDesk. The integration will facilitate the development of business software and will enable the organizations to increase their productivity and efficiency in the field of software development.

Nowadays, software development is a challenging task even for experienced programmers. There are a variety of tops available to streamline the process of software development. These include bug tracking systems, continuous integration tops, issue trackers and project management sputions. There are numerous tops available on the market for these purposes. In this article, we will only assess the options provided by the two reviewed platforms. Odoo and FuseDesk. We will review each spution from the perspective of an IT manager or Project Manager.

In order to illustrate what is possible with the integration of Odoo and FuseDesk, we will discuss a fictional organization named Company X which uses both sputions. Company X is a typical company which counts with a team of 10 developers working on a web application which can be accessed from anywhere in the world using a browser. It has its own office space in New York but it is planning to expand its services to other countries. In addition, Company X employs a customer support team consisting of 5 people who answer emails from customers, provides phone support and offers assistance for different issues related to the project. Company X has been using Odoo for three years now and all of its employees have been trained on how to use it. They have grown accustomed to it and they feel that it is easy to learn and that it supports them in their tasks. When the company’s finance department realized that it would need to hire additional developers, it decided to carry out a recruitment drive in Eastern Europe to find the best candidates possible. The financial department chose to keep all development work in-house in order to reduce expenditure. This strategy turned out to be successful when the company was able to find great employees who were able to take charge of developing specific areas of the application when needed. This methodpogy resulted in smaller teams but more efficiency when developing specific parts of the application.

Company X then decided to expand its services into Latin America. A consultant advised Company X that it would be better if they could employ independent contractors rather than taking on local employees. This way they could avoid having to provide benefits like health insurance or pensions for their employees. The consultant also mentioned that using independent contractors would make it easier for the company to maintain its services without having to worry about losing any staff members. This consultant recommended FuseDesk as a spution for finding quality independent contractors who could develop different parts of the web application until the scope was completed. Company X decided to use FuseDesk for this purpose because they had heard about its reputation in terms of finding specialists for software development projects. The company also liked the fact that FuseDesk provides feedback reports for each bid so that they can analyze these before making any hiring decisions.

The company’s financial department was concerned that using independent contractors might not be enough for them to complete their project so they decided to try out Odoo CRM as well. After reviewing other CRM systems, they decided that the best option would be to use Odoo CRM instead because it has built-in features for managing projects. Furthermore, they liked the fact that Odoo CRM has templates to help them manage these projects more effectively. They believed that this would be especially useful when entering tasks into Odoo CRM since it includes fields for describing each task more accurately. Company X decided to try out Odoo CRM by creating an account on FuseDesk under their name. From there they were able to create a project named ‘Web Application Rebranding’ where they entered details about this project including its description, budget estimation and delivery date. Furthermore, they were able to choose how many resources they expected to use for this project and how long they expected it to take. Through FuseDesk they were able to create two types of resources. Independent Contractors and Team Members who could offer their skills and time as part of a team. Once this was done, Company X was able to search through FuseDesk’s database of resources and prospective workers who matched their criteria by choosing relevant tags such as location, skill level and previous experience. Company X also added some tags such as ‘Senior Developer’ and ‘JavaScript’ so as not to leave any stone unturned during their search for resources who could help them with this project. They then proceeded to receive bids from different resources based on their preferences and estimates of time and money needed within each resource’s proposed price range. Company X was also able to receive relevant advice from FuseDesk via email which prompted them to think about how they wanted this project delivered by external resources. For example, FuseDesk suggested that Company X should include tasks such as “Getting onboarded” within their scope since this would likely take up some time during the project’s planning phase (FuseDesk, 2017.

When selecting resources based on bids offered by them on FuseDesk, Company X paid special attention to those who had received good reviews from previous employers on FuseDesk as well as those who had been awarded positive feedback from past customers on other freelance websites such as Freelancer or Upwork (FuseDesk, 2017. The company then decided on three different resources from whom they received bids ranging from $5 per hour up to $30 per hour per resource depending on their experience level and previous work history on FuseDesk as well as Freelancer or Upwork (FuseDesk, 2017. After choosing providers, Company X received reports from FuseDesk detailing comments made by potential providers who were interested in bidding on the project as well as comments made by current clients who had worked with these providers before (FuseDesk, 2017. Having consulted these reports together with statistics provided by FuseDesk about time estimations for certain tasks within a project, Company X felt confident enough in their decision-making processes before starting this project with external resources from contractors around the world through FuseDesk (FuseDesk, 2017.

At the beginning of the project, specialists from Company X created separate task groups within Odoo CRM which would group similar tasks together based on their tags (Odoo CRM Website, 2017. For example, Company X created one task group ‘Web Application Rebranding – Redesign’ for tasks related only to the rebranding part of this project while another task group was made ‘Web Application Rebranding – Website Redesign’ which contained tasks related only to redesigning the website (Odoo CRM Website, 2017. Having created these task groups separately helped Company X organize its data more efficiently since it would be easier for managers within each team who were responsible for completing these tasks if they could see what tasks were assigned specifically to them (Odoo CRM Website, 2017. For example, managers responsible for designing new logos or updating content would only need to check one task group ‘Web Application Rebranding – Redesign’ instead of looking at all tasks within Odoo CRM (Odoo CRM Website, 2017. Using task groups helps companies prevent information overload since it facilitates filtering out useless information (Odoo CRM Website, 2017. By assigning different tasks specifically to different persons responsible for completing them, Company X could ensure that each task was completed according to specifications even though multiple people were working on this project (Odoo CRM Website, 2017.

When setting up new users within Odoo CRM, Company X made sure that everyone had access only to those areas where they needed access in order for them to perform their designated tasks within the project (Odoo CRM Website, 2017. For example, users who were responsible for creating new content were given access only to areas where they could upload files related to this part of the project while other users were given access only to areas where they could assign themselves tasks according to what was expected of them within each stage of this project (Odoo CRM Website, 2017.
