Integration of Odoo ERP Self Hosted and Google Photos

The purpose of this article is to compare and contrast Odoo ERP Self Hosted and Google Photos. This is a comparative article I have written based on the outline prepared earlier. The paragraphs have been numbered for easier referencing.

Odoo ERP Self Hosted

Odoo ERP Self Hosted is a business management software created by Odoo, a software company from France. It is also known as Odoo 9.0 or Odoo 10.0. The software can be installed on a local server or hosted by a cloud computing service. Odoo ERP Self Hosted is a top for managing a business. It helps companies track their sales, customers, inventory, and finances. Odoo is available in two versions – free and paid. The paid version offers more features and better support.

Google Photos

Google Photos is a photo-sharing application developed by Google. It was released in May 2015 as part of the Google Photos service. Google Photos allows users to store and share photos and videos without using an external storage device or a computer. The service is available for Android, iOS, and the web browsers. Users can upload pictures and videos from their Android device or iPhone to Google Photos app. They can also import pictures from a computer to Google Drive and then upload them to Google Photos using the app.

Integration of Odoo ERP Self Hosted and Google Photos is possible with some configurations. Let us take a look at the integration process step by step.

Firstly, we need to install Odoo ERP Self Hosted. We can download the software from the official site and install it on our server. Once we have installed Odoo ERP Self Hosted, we can login to the application and register our company details. After that, we can create our first customer. To create a new customer, we need to go to ‘Contacts’ section of the home page and click on ‘Create Customer’ button at the bottom of the page. We can create different customers for different departments of our business like marketing, accounting, human resources, etc. All these data will be stored in the Odoo ERP Self Hosted database.

Next, we need to create an account on Google Photos and link it with our Odoo ERP Self Hosted account. We can do it by going to the ‘Settings’ section of our Odoo ERP Self Hosted account and clicking on ‘Additional Services’ button at the bottom of the page. Now we need to fill out our Google username and password in the field below and click on ‘Link Account’ button at the bottom of the page. As soon as we complete this step, our Odoo ERP Self Hosted account will be linked with Google Photos.

Now we need to create a new fpder in Odoo ERP Self Hosted for storing photos uploaded from Google Photos app. To create a new fpder in Odoo ERP Self Hosted, we can go to ‘Manage Fpders’ section in the menu bar above the page. Then we need to click on ‘Create New Fpder’ button at the top right corner of the page after which we will be redirected to a page where we can fill out fields describing our fpder and insert files into this fpder. We can give any name to our fpder but it should not exceed 30 characters in length. We can also select permissions for this fpder so only users with appropriate permission levels will be able to access it. After finishing all these steps, we can save our changes by clicking on ‘Save Changes’ button at the bottom of the page.

Now we are ready to upload our photos from Google Photos app to this new fpder in Odoo ERP Self Hosted using Google Drive interface or other available methods like FTP or SSH file transfer protocps (SFTP/SCP. For this purpose, we need to go to fpders section in Google Drive interface and open fpders containing pictures uploaded from our phone or computer via Google Photos app. Then we need to drag all these photos over here to ‘Drop files’ window next to each fpder tab, wait for uploading process to finish, and choose “Copy Link” option when prompted to copy direct links for downloading images from fpders in Google Drive interface (Figure 1.

Figure 1. Downloading photos from Google Photos app via Google Drive interface

Now we can go back to Odoo ERP Self Hosted and paste these links into ‘Drop files’ window for each photo fpder in order to download them into our new fpder created earlier (Figure 2.

Figure 2. Pasting links for downloading photos into Odoo ERP Self Hosted

We can repeat the same process for every photo fpder containing pictures uploaded via Google Photos app until all photos are uploaded into our new fpder created earlier (Figure 3.

Figure 3. Uploading photos via Google Drive interface

After uploading all photos via Google Drive interface, we need to adjust permissions for our newly created fpder in order to make it private only for our own purposes. In order to do this, we can go back to ‘Manage Fpders’ section in the menu bar above the page in Odoo ERP Self Hosted and select our new fpder from drop-down list located at the top right corner of this window (Figure 4.

Figure 4. Selecting fpder from drop-down list in ‘Manage Fpders’ section in menu bar above the page in Odoo ERP Self Hosted

After that, we need to click on ‘Edit Permissions’ button at the bottom of this window and change permissions for this fpder so only registered users with appropriate permission levels will be able to access it (Figure 5.

Finally, we need to save our changes by clicking on ‘Save Changes’ button at the bottom of this window (Figure 6.

Now we have finished all configuration steps required for integration of Odoo ERP Self Hosted and Google Photos!
