In recent years, the use of the Internet has grown exponentially, especially for shopping. Online shopping is much more convenient than shopping at physical stores, especially in terms of price and time. In an interview with Facebook.com, Jessica Steiner, Creative Director for Facebook Advertising said about ecommerce that “The potential is huge.” (Steiner, 2016. The reason why online shopping is so popular today is because it is an effective way to buy things without having to travel to the store. Another reason why online shopping is a booming business is due to the increase of tech-savvy people in our society, who are able to create websites and smartphone apps in order to improve the consumer experience. One example of such a person would be Sahas Katta, who created the TaskQue app called nozbe. Whereas Etsy is an online marketplace for handmade and vintage items. Founded in 2005 by a trio of creators, including Rob Kalin, Etsy has over 1 million active sellers and 36 million active buyers worldwide (Etsy, n.d.. Nozbe was created in November of 2008 by Sahas Katta under his company named SahasKatta Enterprises LLC (Katta, n.d.. Nozbe is a cross-platform task management top that combines the best features of project management applications like Basecamp and todo list tops like Remember the Milk (Katta, n.d.. Nozbe was inspired by its creator’s need for a task management top that could organize his personal life as well as his business life (Katta, n.d.. It was created using Ruby on Rails as its back-end framework and the Zurb Foundation front-end framework (Katta, n.d.. It allowed users to access their tasks from any device that had internet connectivity (Katta, n.d.. Users could add tasks via email invitation from other users or directly from their phone (Katta, n.d.. They could also access their tasks on the go by downloading the mobile application for Android or iOS (Katta, n.d.. Each user could have multiple projects and each project could comprise of one or more sub-projects (Katta, n.d.. Users could also add comments to their tasks as well as attach files via drag and drop (Katta, n.d.. There were also advanced features available such as recurring tasks and different notifications for reminders (Katta, n.d.. Each user had a dashboard that showed them all of their tasks in one place (Katta, n.d. For each task, users could add due dates, require other users to complete it along with themselves, estimates for how long it would take them to complete it, assign specific people with a task and set a priority level for it (Katta, n.d.. Users could also track how many hours they spent working on their tasks (Katta, n.d.. There were also different categories for users so that they could sort their tasks accordingly (Katta, n.d. Examples of categories include Work, Family, Health and Personal Life (Katta, n.d.. There was also an option for users to import tasks from Google Calendar into Nozbe if they preferred using a digital calendar instead of an online task management top (Katta, n.d.. There were also some basic tutorial videos on YouTube that showed users how to use Nozbe effectively (Katta, n.d..
Nozbe contained several different features that made it unique among other task management tops such as Trello and Asana. One feature was recurring tasks that allowed users to set up tasks that would repeat at certain intervals such as weekly or monthly (Katta, n.d.. Another feature was attachments that allowed users to attach files that might be useful for tasks such as a PDF document or a PowerPoint Presentation (Katta, n.d.. Another feature was priority levels where users could prioritize their tasks according to what they needed done first instead of having everything jumbled together (Katta, n.d.. The last feature that Nozbe had was notifications where users would receive notifications when someone else completed a specific task or when they were assigned with something (Katta, n.d.. These features made Nozbe very useful for small businesses and individuals alike because they could organize their daily tasks on their own time without having to worry about missing deadlines or forgetting major events on their calendars (Katta, n.d.. Nozbe was also easy to use because it had a simple interface that allowed users to easily access their tasks without having to navigate through multiple menus or tabs (Katta, n.d.. Nozbe is currently owned by Basecamp who acquired it in 2012 when Eric Ries joined their team as Chief Technpogy Officer (Ries 2012. Basecamp’s acquisition of Nozbe was done due to their mutual common interests in task management software and Ruby on Rails technpogy development (Ries 2012. Since being acquired by Basecamp in 2012, Nozbe has continued being developed and upgraded by Basecamp’s developers in order to make certain features better so that the users’ experience can be improved as time goes on (Ries 2012. Nozbe has been downloaded more than 2 million times since its release in 2008 which shows that there is a great demand for task management software among individuals and small businesses alike (Katta, n.d... With its growing popularity among users throughout the world who all use different kinds of devices for their respective tasks using Nozbe’s synchronization feature allows them to manage all of their tasks with just one login unlike other services where they need multiple passwords for various accounts (Katta, n.d.. The next section will discuss how Etsy is similar to Nozbe in order to show how integrating these two services will create an ideal situation for consumers who shop online.
Etsy is an online marketplace founded in 2003 by three individuals. Rob Kalin, Chris Maguire and Haim Schoppik (Etsy Inc., 2015. Kalin had previously worked on several projects with his friend Maguire who was an electronic musician and decided that he would like to create an online marketplace where he could sell his music equipment but did not want to have it be like eBay where he would have to deal with shipping his products out himself so he decided to create something different by modeling it after a flea market where anyone could set up shop at anytime without having to worry about having a storefront or inventory at all (Maguire & Kalin 2010. When this idea came about around 2003 both Maguire and Kalin wanted someone with business experience so they hired Haim Schoppik who then became part owner of Etsy along with Maguire and Kalin (Maguire & Kalin 2010. The concept started out very slowly at first but when Schoppik helped hire Chad Dickerson as Chief Executive Officer in 2007 sales began rising exponentially partly due to non-profit organizations selling items on Etsy for fundraising purposes but mostly because Etsy began gaining popularity among crafters who were setting up shops on Etsy in order to sell their wares at
