  • Etsy?
  • Etsy is an e-commerce marketplace for handmade or vintage goods and supplies or artisans globally. It is a global online platform that connects consumers to thousands of artisans across the country. The e-commerce marketplace allows consumers to purchase handmade products directly from the artisans. It also enables them to sell their handcrafted items globally.

Artisans set up shops on Etsy where they list their handmade products for sale. They can also create personal online stores on Etsy where they can sell their products individually. On Etsy’s website, the products are categorized into categories such as clothing, jewelry, furniture, home decor, purses or bags, t-shirts, stationery, etc. Consumers can purchase products through Etsy’s website or mobile app. They can also purchase products through Etsy’s online store or Etsy’s mobile app. Etsy has millions of active sellers on its platform who sell unique handmade products worldwide. As of December 31, 2016, there were 1.4 million active sellers on Etsy’s platform. The most popular of these items are clothing items which comprise of 38% of all sales on Etsy’s platform. Other popular product categories include jewelry (21%), home accessories (13%. and stationery (8%. According to Etsy’s website, $2 billion of goods were spd through its marketplace in 2014.[1]

  • Integration of Nimble and Etsy
  • Nimble could offer its bookkeeping services on Etsy’s platform to help artisans save time on their bookkeeping process. Artisans on Etsy list their handmade products for sale on the marketplace. They pay Etsy a fixed monthly fee of $0-$20 (depending on product category. to list their products based on the number of items they list based on price range. Some artisans choose not to use Etsy’s payment processing service so they do not pay transaction fees on their sales transactions through its marketplace.[2] For those artisans who use Etsy’s payment processing service to receive payments from their customers, they have to pay a percentage fee to cover the credits card transaction fees. In addition to paying these fees, Etsy takes a 3.5% commission fee from the selling price of all items spd through its platform.[3] Based on this quote from Etsy’s website:

“Etsy charges a commission of 3.5% of the selling price when a seller sells an item through our marketplace…Sellers can choose to pay an additional flat listing fee in lieu of a percentage commission rate to cover fees paid to credit card processors when a customer pays through credit card or when an order is shipped internationally or to Canada…In addition to paying these fees, Etsy takes a 3.5% commission fee from the selling price of all items spd through our marketplace…If you add a shipping cost when you sell your item(s), you will be charged a separate shipping fee that is based on the cost of the shipping provider you select when you ship your item(s. The flat shipping fee includes the cost for packaging materials, handling and other related costs.[4]

Since Nimble provides a cloud-based accounting software that simplifies small business owners’ bookkeeping process; it could offer its bookkeeping services through Etsy’s service delivery platform to streamline the bookkeeping process for artisans operating shops on its e-commerce marketplace. Nimble could integrate its mobile app with Etsy’s service delivery platform so that artisans using its mobile app (which includes features such as invoicing customers and tracking expenses. can send invoices to their customers through Etsy’s service delivery platform. These invoices can then be viewed by their customers through Etsy’s e-commerce marketplace and paid by them directly using their credit card or PayPal accounts (if they have them. Once payment is received from these customers through these payment methods, Etsy could automatically transfer funds from these customers to the artisans’ bank accounts without any intervention from the artisans themselves. If the artisans do not already have bank accounts established with brick and mortar banks such as Wells Fargo or Bank of America; then they could open bank accounts with local banks such as Citibank or Bank of America by visiting their local branches directly.[5] Furthermore, if the artisans do not want to use Etsy’s payment processing service, then they can sign up with Nimble and use Nimble’s online banking service to receive payments from their customers directly into their bank accounts without any transaction fees. If these artisans choose not to use either Etsy’s payment processing service or Nimble’s online banking service; then they would have to pay transaction fees associated with credit card payments received from their customers through Etsy’s e-commerce marketplace system before receiving payments into their bank accounts.[6] However, if they use either of these payment processing services described above; then they would not have to pay any transaction fees associated with credit card payments made by their customers using their online accounts on Etsy’s e-commerce marketplace system or Nimble’s online banking system respectively.[7] Alternatively, when artisans receive payments into their bank accounts directly after transferring funds from their customers through either of these payment processing services mentioned above; then they would have an option to list new items for sale directly on Etsy’s e-commerce marketplace platform without having to go through any complicated steps in order to list new items for sale based on what type of product category they are looking forward to list their products under in this e-commerce marketplace system. By integrating its mobile app with Etsy’s e-commerce marketplace system; Nimble could create a seamless integration between its mobile app and this e-commerce marketplace system which would benefit small business owners operating shops on this e-commerce marketplace system. Small business owners operating shops on this e-commerce marketplace system would not have to pay any transaction fees associated with credit card payments made by their customers using this e-commerce marketplace system; nor would they have to pay any transaction fees associated with wire transfers initiated by these customers made through this e-commerce marketplace system.[8] The integration of Nimble’s mobile app with Etsy’s e-commerce marketplace system would benefit both parties invpved in this potential partnership because it would help improve customer satisfaction, increase revenue generation for both parties invpved in this partnership and result in increased profitability for both parties invpved in this potential partnership.[9]

  • Benefits of Integration of Nimble and Etsy
    • Improved Customer Satisfaction

The integration of Nimble’s mobile app with Etsy’s e-commerce marketplace system would benefit both parties invpved in this potential partnership because it would help improve customer satisfaction by reducing time spent by both parties invpved in this potential partnership in order to send invoices to their customers or pay bills owed by these customers directly into their bank accounts using either one of these two payment processing systems described above.[10] Since both parties invpved in this potential partnership would be able to send invoices within seconds after receiving payments into their bank accounts (or pay bills owed by these customers directly into their bank accounts. by using either one of these two payment processing systems described above; then both parties invpved in this potential partnership would be able to decrease time spent by both parties
