Before launching Netlify, we were a small team of engineers working on a super-secret project at Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com. We built the first version of the site behind the curtain.
The project was going so well that we decided to launch it as a standalone product with the name Netlify. We turned our super-secret project into something that anyone could use and build amazing things on top of.
When we launched Netlify, we knew that we wanted to make it easy for developers to deploy any kind of site or app. But in order to keep the service simple, we had to limit what was possible. Over time, many users tpd us how much they wanted to do more with their sites and apps. To make that happen, we brought in more and more functionality to help developers build more powerful sites and apps. The most recent addition is Slack integration, which lets you deploy directly from Slack.
Your turn! Just write it in a Google doc, email it to yourself, tweet it out, do whatever you want with it. And if you want to get feedback from one of your friends or family members, feel free to send it to them. I’d recommend waiting until you have at least the introduction and conclusion done before sending it around though – you don’t want to put in all this work only to have someone tell you they don’t understand what you’re doing or why it’s important (that happened to me once…. You might even find that some of your feedback is contradictory – that’s ok! It shows that you have some really good ideas and different people have different perspectives on your topic.
