Netlify is a website hosting service that provides static hosting for web applications. It offers a CDN, DNS management, and authentication. It integrates with Github or Bitbucket where developers can build their sites and automatically deploy them on Netlify. It’s also free to get started.

Patreon?

Patreon is a membership platform where people can support their favorite artists/creators and get exclusive content in return. It’s like Kickstarter but for the long term. People can pledge any amount they want to support the creator. Pledges can be as low as $1 each month. In return, the supporters will get some cop stuff based on their pledge level. For example, if you pledge $1, you will get access to an exclusive post while if you pledge $5, you will get access to all exclusive posts plus a PDF version of the post. At different tiers, you will also get to interact with the creator more through live chats and group chats. The highest tier is $100 where you will get to meet the creator in person during one of his/her events. Two of my favorite creators are Lea Alcantara and Blender Guru. The first one creates great tutorials on how to use Adobe Illustrator and the second one does great tutorials on how to use Blender 3D.

Integration of Netlify and Patreon

With Netlify, creators can deploy their site seamlessly from the editor. After creating a site on Netlify, all they have to do is click the Deploy button. They can login to their Patreon account and select the project they want to link to the site. After doing so, Netlify will take care of the rest. The content is embedded into the site pages with minimal effort. The creator can then share the site with his/her patrons. Since it’s only static files (HTML, CSS, JS), there is very little maintenance required since there are no back-end servers to maintain.
