Netlify is a web hosting service that allows you to host your static site on their servers. It will be hosted in the cloud which makes it easier for access by anyone who visits the site. There are many benefits to using Netlify to host your website, which I will go into depth in the next section.
Netlify also takes care of all of the deployment details, along with making it easy to update your site when you make changes. They have different plans for different types of websites.
AWeber is a mailing list service that provides features that are meant to help manage emails that are sent out to subscribers. It includes features such as autoresponder, social media integration, and more. There are numerous email marketing tops available, but AWeber is one of the most well known.
One of the best things about Netlify is the ability to integrate it with other services easily. One of the most common uses of this is to integrate it with an email marketing service like AWeber, which I will cover in this section.
The way that you would integrate these two services together depends on whether you are using one of their paid plans (which I highly recommend), or if you are using the free plan. Both ways are covered below.
1- Using a paid plan (Recommended)
If you are using a paid plan, you can easily connect your site created in Netlify to your AWeber account by fplowing these steps (note that you will need access to both accounts):
Go to your site’s settings page in Netlify (select the gear icon at the top left corner. Choose “Integrations” from the left navigation bar underneath “Settings” Choose “MailChimp” from the list of integrations that appears Enter your API key or manage key into the “MailChimp API Key” field Select “Save Changes” at the bottom right corner of the page
2- Using a free plan
If you are not using a paid plan, there is another method for connecting your site created in Netlify to your AWeber account. You will need to use an external service called Zapier, which does not offer a free plan, but may be worth it if you rely on AWeber for emails. In order to do it through Zapier, fplow these steps:
Signup for a Zapier account Create a new Zap from the dashboard by pressing “Make a Zap!” in the top left corner Choose “Zap This” from the list of options in the left navigation bar Scrpl down and choose “Zapier Event” from the list of triggers in the middle of the screen Expand “Zap Trigger” and choose “New push event” from the drop down menu under Push Type your app’s API key or manage key into the “API Key” field In the URL Template section enter “/admin/email-lists/add-list/” In the Select Fields section click on “View Details” next to List Name Copy and paste your AWeber list name into this field Click on “Create Trigger” at the bottom right corner of the screen Create a new Zap from the dashboard by pressing “Make a Zap!” in the top left corner Choose “Zap That” from the list of options in the left navigation bar Scrpl down and choose “Zapier Action” from the list of triggers in the middle of the screen Expand “Zap Action” and choose “New push event” from the drop down menu under Push Type your app’s API key or manage key into the “API Key” field In the URL Template section enter “/admin/email-lists/update/” In the Select Fields section click on “View Details” next to List Name Copy and paste your AWeber list name into this field Click on “Create Action” at the bottom right corner of the screen After creating both Zaps, click on your Zap at the top left corner Select “Test Zaps!” from the drop down menu underneath Test Zaps! Your Zaps should now be active!
I hope this article has helped you get started and feel comfortable with combining these two services together! If you have any questions or feedback leave them in the comments below and we will get back to you shortly!
