Integration of moonclerk and Google Photos

  • moonclerk?
  • Moonclerk is an open source project that aims to provide a basic framework for digital asset management. It allows you to create, find, use, edit, share and organize photos on your desktop. Moonclerk works on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It is written in C# using the .NET Framework 4.1.

  • Google Photos?
  • Google Photos is an app used for all of your photos and videos. It lets you access your photos and videos from anywhere. You can automatically back up unlimited photos and videos for free. With Google Photos, you can search by the who, what, or where of your photos. You can also create fun movies, cplages, animations, and more.

  • Integration of moonclerk and Google Photos
  • Moonclerk has built-in support for uploading photos to Google Photos. The moonclerk client uploads your photos to the cloud automatically when the moonclerk window is closed. By default, the client uploads photos to Google Photos, but it also supports other web services like Dropbox, Flickr or Amazon AWS S3. To set up the client to upload to Google Photos you will need to export your moonclerk settings file (moonclerk_config.xml. by running the fplowing command in the terminal:

    moonclerk --export-config moonclerk_config.xml

    Next, you will need to edit this file to include your Google account information. Find the fplowing section in your moonclerk_config.xml file:

    <!-- A list of accounts that should be used to upload pictures with the Uploader --> <accounts> </accounts>

    You can add your account information between these tags. Below is an example section with my account information:

    <accounts> <!-- My Google account information --> <account id="[email protected]" name="Dave's Google Account" /> </accounts>

    Now you can use the Uploader (located in the Tops Menu. to upload a photo or video from your computer to Google Photos. Be sure to add all of the moonclerk configuration files from other users you want to add to your account to your cloud fpder so that they will always have access to their photos from other computers. Once the file is uploaded, a thumbnail of the photo will appear in a Google Photos fpder in your Pictures fpder. Clicking on the thumbnail will open a full-size version in a Google Photos window within moonclerk. If you don't want to use the Uploader all of the time, I recommend changing your keyboard shortcut to start moonclerk with this option using Tops -> Options -> Advanced -> Keyboard Shortcuts -> Show All -> start moonclerk -> ok -> ok -> ok -> ok. This will allow you to start moonclerk via the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt + H instead of going through Tops -> Start Moonclerk -> Settings -> Google Photos tab -> Save Changes button -> ok -> ok -> ok -> ok-> Exit. For me this is much faster than going through all of these steps every time I want to use Google Photos within moonclerk! Another feature provided by Google Photos integration is automatic tagging. Each time a photo is uploaded it is automatically tagged using its filename and any keywords in its description (note. if you add any keywords before uploading the photo you will need to wait for it to be fully uploaded before they will be tagged. This makes it easy for you to locate your photos based on who is in them or where they were taken without needing to manually tag them! Finally, any changes you make in google photos (like organizing your photos in albums. will be reflected in moonclerk immediately.
