Integration of MongoDB Realm and Discord

MongoDB Realm

MongoDB Realm is a real-time database. It is developed for both iOS and Android devices. The data can be stored in the native realm format, which is supported by multiple languages. For example, Java, Swift, and Objective-C.

Discord

Discord is a free voice and text chat app for gamers. It allows users to form text and voice channels. It has also been recognized as one of the best free voice and text communication apps in the market today.

Integration of MongoDB Realm and Discord

In this paragraph, I will briefly describe how to integrate MongoDB Realm with Discord. The steps are as fplows:

  • Create a new project in Xcode. Name it “MongoDB_Realm_and_Discord”.
  • Install MongoDB through Homebrew. Open Terminal and input the fplowing command in order to install MongoDB:

brew install mongodb

Next, run the MongoDB instance using the fplowing command:

mongod --dbpath . --fork --logpath /usr/local/var/mongodb/mongod.log --net=unix

  • Add the fplowing frameworks to your project. RealmSwift, Realm, and Alamofire. Go to “File” menu and select “New File…” under the “Cocoa Touch” category. Then name the file “Podfile”. Make sure that the “Create directory references” option is checked. Click “Next” until you reach the last step. Choose “Target” and click on “Add”. In the popup dialog box, choose “Create Podfile in Workspace” and click “Finish’. Open the newly created Podfile and input the fplowing code lines:

target 'MongoDB_Realm_and_Discord' do use_frameworks! pod 'RealmSwift', '~> 2.8' pod 'Realm', '~> 4.0' pod 'Alamofire', '~> 4.4' end target 'MongoDB_Realm_and_DiscordTests' do inherit! :search_paths pod 'RealmSwift', '~> 2.8' pod 'Realm', '~> 4.0' pod 'Alamofire', '~> 4.4' end

Then go back to Terminal and input:

pod install pod deintegrate

The above commands will create a new file called “Pods” in your Xcode project fpder and remove all the other files from there. In order to open your project again, you need to input open MongoDB_Realm_and_Discord in Terminal. After that, you will see your project listed inside Xcode again.

  • Download the sample code for MMMyoDiscordSync from GitHub at https://github.com/pippusinanahawan/MMMyoDiscordSync/tree/master/MMMyoDiscordSyncDemo . Unzip this archive and move the fpder to your Xcode project fpder (the one containing the Podfile. Then drag it into your project in Xcode. You should see three groups appear in your project view, including one called “MMMyoDiscordSyncDemo” and another called “Pods”. Delete the Pods group. Your project should look like this now:
