About MongoDB

MongoDB is an open-source document-based database management tool that stores data in JSON-like formats. It uses flexible documents instead of tables and rows to process and store various forms of data. As a NoSQL solution, MongoDB does not require a relational database management system (RDBMS).

About Firebase Realtime Database

The Firebase Realtime Database lets you build rich, collaborative applications by allowing secure access to the database directly from client-side code.

Integration of MongoDB and Firebase Realtime Database

MongoDB is a cross-platform document-oriented database system. It is developed and maintained by MongoDB Inc. Firebase Realtime Database is a mobile and web application development platform developed by Firebase, Inc. It is a cloud-hosted database that stores data as JSON.

A Simple Guide to MongoDB and Firebase Realtime Database provides details of the two technpogies and their integration through the Firebase SDK.

MongoDB was initially named as humongous, but due to copyright issues, it was renamed to MongoDB. The current version of MongoDB is 3.6.1. It is available on Linux, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Sparis, FreeBSD, and OpenBSD. MongoDB stores data as documents with dynamic schemas that can be changed. The schema is not enforced until write operations are executed.

Firebase Realtime Database stores data as JSON objects that are synchronized in real time with all other users connected to the database. It uses Firebase Authentication for user authentication for security purposes. There are three ways of storing data on Firebase Realtime Database. synchronous data access (where the client waits for an update from the server before continuing), asynchronous data access (where the client does not wait for an update from the server before continuing), and snapshot data access (where the client gets a snapshot of the data at the time of request. Snapshot data access is not possible with MongoDB because it does not support this feature.

MongoDB is a cross-platform document-oriented database system while Firebase Realtime Database is a mobile and web application development platform that stores data as JSON objects. They both have different features and they are integrated with each other through the Firebase SDK.

The process to integrate MongoDB and Firebase Realtime Database may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
