About MongoDB

MongoDB is an open-source document-based database management tool that stores data in JSON-like formats. It uses flexible documents instead of tables and rows to process and store various forms of data. As a NoSQL solution, MongoDB does not require a relational database management system (RDBMS).

Integration of MongoDB and Evernote

Evernote is a powerful top that can be used to save notes and ideas, organize information and remember everything that matters. But the ability of Evernote to cplect and organize data is not its only benefit. There are many more opportunities of using Evernote. One of them is integration with other applications. In this article I will talk about one of the most promising combinations of apps – MongoDB (database. and Evernote (note-taking app.

MongoDB is an open-source NoSQL database. It is often used for storing unstructured data. It is highly scalable, reliable, fast and flexible. MongoDB is developed in Erlang programming language and is written in C++. It supports JSON (JavaScript Object Notation. data format and built-in MapReduce document-oriented database. MongoDB stores data in BSON (Binary JSON. format. BSON is a binary representation of JSON documents, which makes MongoDB very fast because it does not need to parse the documents when extracting information from them. As MongoDB stores and retrieves data in documents, it provides high performance compared to relational database management systems (RDBMS. Documents consist of fields which also represent documents. MongoDB provides an opportunity to store and access related data by “key-value” pairs, which is known as “document id”. So, we can build a new document based on an existing one and save the result without duplicating the information [1].

Another great feature – schema-free database, meaning that database administrators do not have to define in advance what kind of content will be stored in database because database knows how to store all data that has been entered into it. It allows you to save every kind of structured and non-structured data. Also, no additional processing takes place when adding new information in the database [2].

Evernote is a free cloud-based note-taking application available for Microsoft Windows, Apple’s OS X and several mobile devices, including Apple iOS, Google Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry OS, and Microsoft Windows RT. The software uses a freemium business model; basic features are free, while advanced features are available only in a paid premium subscription version. As of February 2014, the service had 100 million users [3].

Evernote allows users to create a virtual “notebook” containing individual notes organized into “notebooks” and sub-notes grouped by topic or category. Users can attach files and images to their notes as well as add audio recordings and web page clippings. Notes can be tagged, annotated, and searched via natural language queries. Evernote includes a task manager that allows users to create lists and organize tasks within them. Tasks can be given priority levels, due dates, reminders and notes [4].

There are many benefits of integrating Evernote with MongoDB. First of all, MongoDB allows you to store unlimited number of documents while Evernote limits the number of notes to 60 per month. This means that you can use both services in order to boost your productivity. Also, integration of MongoDB and Evernote helps you to easily share notes with your team members. You can add people to specific notebooks who will then be able to view all of your notes associated with those notebooks. Also, you can share notebooks with specific people so they get access only to the information which was intended for them [5].

You can also use MongoDB and Evernote together to record your meetings. You just need to add a tag “Meeting” to your meeting entries in Evernote, then you can run a query in MongoDB against that tag in order to retrieve all meeting appointments. I hope that this article will help you to find new possibilities of using these applications together.
