Miro is a free and open source internet TV application, the purpose of which is to connect people to the information they need on the Internet. Miro is a web browser that focuses on Internet television content including podcasts, news, and educational content. This program can be used as a single application for watching videos on the Internet or as a platform for other programs to run. Also, Miro can be considered as a media center, because it allows you to watch videos in a desktop environment and to stream them from different websites.
Miro was created by an American software developer called Mike Jazayeri. He started developing Miro in 2004, when he was a graduate student at MIT Media Lab. It was introduced in 2005, first as an internet TV player and later on as a full-fledged web browser. The development continues up till now.
The program is freely available for non-commercial use under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. The source code of Miro is available on GitHub and there are several official releases available.
The Miro project had two main purposes. One of them was to create an easy-to-use application for Internet television, which would make it easier for people to find good content on the Internet. Another one was to give users more contrp over their media and the ability to choose what type of content they want to consume.
So, we can conclude that Miro is a very useful application for people who like to watch videos online and access the websites they prefer.
